Topic^

Do you like older rap better or the new stuff?

I like the Older stuff better. Some of the guys people claim are the best are good but I wouldn't exactly say they're the best though. They seem overrated. Majority of rap sounds like crap.

Pretty much equal. If we were talking purely mainstream, I'd say older rap though. But back in the day, so to speak, we had 2pac, Biggie, Rakim, and all. And now we have Lupe, Nas, Cudi, etc. It's pretty even to me.

The handful of rappers I enjoy seem to have a tendency to be more recent artists, though like a couple of older ones as well.

I don't really see many new artists today that can even come close to some of the albums from 15-20 years ago (Illmatic, Low End Theory, etc)...that said, I'm still a big fan of today's stuff. Mainstream today is a lot worse than it used to be, but if you look hard enough you can still find some really good hip-hop.

I liked rap and hip hop in general before it became a haven for sellouts and phony's . I had some faith left in the genera until I saw that ad where Dr. Dre was hocking Dr. Pepper. I still listen to the old school stuff though.

This right here is your problem.

Whatever man, it's all the same.

Gucci man, soulja boy, lil John, lil wayne, lil bow wow, young jezzey, young this, lil that, so and so boy, so and so man.

I do, however, enjoy that song about Lemoade that that "Gucci man" fellow made. Sometimes a rap is stupid to the level where it's bascially a paordy of itself.

Tbh I don't actively listen to any rap, nor do I have any on my iPod... I'm okay listening to a few of them and enjoy some 2pac from time to time, but mostly I avoid the genre.

Don't waste your money on Paramore when you could get stuff by:

Because it's fun. And because we have different opinions on music, even though we like a lot of the same stuff (for example, Darth incorrectly believes that death metal is better than black metal >_>).

Anyway, Darth... you weren't at the AC/DC concert but he pulled off some sweet guitar playing at the end, outside of the usual songs. And he still has a hell of a lot more talent than anyone in Paramore. :P

And all that stuff I listed (and much more besides that I didn't list because I don't have stuff by them yet, I just listed almost every metal band from my iPod (except for Anthrax lol)) is better, so buy that stuff before crappy Paramore. :x

I'm a little bit tired of hearing soulja Boy saying that. Back then was way better. Now It seems that anyone can be rapper. It seems that all you have to do now is swear alot, rhyme anything together, and run around stage grabbing your crotch (some of them do that not all of them though). :P

I guess I like them equally. The newer raps I like, I enjoy just as much as the old raps I've liked, which is exciting considering the rut the industry seems to be in (as far as talent is concerned). With that said, I've definitely gone through the adolescent know it all stage where I reject anything mainstream and bore myself to death with strictly conscience raps, so it really has nothing to do with how people label/categorize the artist.

90s and early 00s rap is my fav. DMX, Ludacris, Eminem, 2Pac, Biggie, Dre, Snoop and Game are my fav rappers. T.I. and SOME Lil Wayne is also pretty good for newer rap.

Older. Early 90's rap is pretty much the only rap I listen too.

I liked rap and hip hop in general before it became a haven for sellouts and phony's . I had some faith left in the genera until I saw that ad where Dr. Dre was hocking Dr. Pepper. I still listen to the old school stuff though.clubsammich91

r u serious? Dr Dre doing a commercial for Dr Pepper removed your faith. wow just wow. i didn't think it was all that much of a sell out for the rap genre, but if we are gonna speak out about rappers selling out i would say Ice Cube with his movie Are We There Yet, and Ice T for his role as a cop in Law in Order...at least i think it's Law in Order. Ice T made a song called Cop Killer, and then he played as a cop :? that's selling out in my book, but doing a commercial for a soft drink where Dre portrays the artist that he actually is isn't selling out imo.

I don't know anything about Rap other than I absolutely hate the current mainstream (soulja boy, lil' wayne, etc.), I have just been too busy with Metal. :P

Anyway, these are the only two songs I've heard that I really like:

Artillery

Switch

So I guess that means I like the newer stuff better.

i really like them both but the older videos are more for any body to watch now the newer rap videos look like easier on the eyes adult films. One rapper i do have respect for i lil wayne. I think he is a transitional rapper:roll:
