I'm Jewish :DHellsAngel2c
Atheist. I don't believe in God but I'm interested in other people's opinions on the matter though :)tofu-lion91
I wish more people had that attitude. In my opinion, every atheist should read at least one holy book to be certain of what they're not believing in.
Since religion reflects an organization of people rather than an actual belief, I don't think I have one.
I'm definately spiritual and believe in a a divine power, but I don't know about religion.

Scientology?
If I was a Scientologist, I wouldn't have the mental capacity to make an account on Gamespot.
And Scientology is still closer to an actual religion that Atheism is.
I'm an Atheist.

I agree. Also, I think aggressive athiests should bring more to the argument than scientific facts. Perhaps a magazine clipping to support their argument or something. Science isn't trying to disprove anything so using science is kind of like cheating.

Why the hell should I? I think all religion is a pointless joke. I would rather read a biology book.[QUOTE="dracula_16"][QUOTE="tofu-lion91"]Atheist. I don't believe in God but I'm interested in other people's opinions on the matter though :)swizz-the-gamer

Now, if one isn't interested in trying to convert others to atheism...then no problem. But I read so much misinformation here that makes me wonder what other decisions are made by some posters without any thought taken.
Note: I'm not talking about you swizz.

I've read the Bible, I went to a catholic school. I'm educated about Christianity, I just think it's a load of crap. Religion that is. I'm a good person and I lead what I believe to be a moral life. There is no point in anyone reading the Bible, I could learn all the morals it teaches by using LOGIC.I've read the Bible, I went to a catholic school. You totally missed the point. FYI...logic does NOT define morals. I can logically rationalize any adverse action I could wish to take.

True, but you can also logically rationalise helping people.
Propogation and preservation of the species.

What LJS is saying is that logic is not a moral standard. It does not address the issue of whether something is right or wrong or just or unjust.
Atheist, always have been always will be.
Father is also Atheist, but both his parents were lutherans ( And his father was a Minister...but then later became a grief counselor with a master's degree in psychology...not sure why ).
And I do agree that reading the bible could be useful even for an Atheist, I personally started with the old testament and I was killed by boredom before I was even half way done.

Indeed, anything can be rationalized. But I agree with swizz in the way that you don't need the bible to tell you what is right and wrong, that's what living and experiencing your life is for
