@BMD004

You might want to watch out with the 'stupid' comment. It will get you modded.

From the OP quote: "hardest to master"
...so you are saying that the pros are not the closest to mastering it :?

Also, you have already contradicted yourself in this thread:

[QUOTE="comp_atkins"]12 years fully committed to 1 thing every day for 8-10 hours a day is a tremendously long amount of time. assuming the person had the resources to commit to such an endevour and the attitude to improve themselves daily i'm sure there are ppl who could pull it off..

BMD004

Yeah, if you did nothing at all for 12 years but 1 thing. But who lives life like that? Professional athletes don't even practice that long every day.

Then you later wrote:

99.9% of Gamespot wouldn't make any professional sports teams or leagues even with 12 years of training. BMD004

Seems like a rather large contradiction
...so which is it.

Also, why are you so upset over this...it is just a sports discussion on a game forum...no reason to bring out the name calling :?

EDIT:
All sorts of formatting issues, had to copy and paste a couple times to get it right

You have changed your OP (took out the 'master it' part) So you have changed the rules of the game during the middle of the match No one ever masters a sport...but the pros come the closest (hope we can agree on that) Your OP asked what was the hardest to master...that equates reaching a pro level

How about highdiving? First you have to know how to swim. Then you have to conquer any fear of heights. And finally, you need to learn the moves that satisfy the judges and at the same making the least splash when hitting the water.

Soccer. The area is too big to run to, and you start kicking and kicking the ball. Then if the ball goes to the other side of the HUGE area, you have to run as fast as you can to retrieve the ball. Goalkeepers are the luckiest and unluckiest players in soccer, know what I mean? They're lucky because they don't have to run run run, yet they're unlucky because if the ball ever comes in, it will be their fault

From what I've seen, Sepak Takraw seems to be about the most difficult sport to master.

Here's a demo.

Paintball is hard to play. Professional paintball that's really hard. Easy to get into, hard to succeed.

Isn't that true for most every sport?

No...many pro football players dont start playing till highschool. sports like baseball, football, etc you dont need specific skill, its just general ability. Im a tennis player and its pretty tough for beginners to learn

I know I said "if you practice for 12 years for one thing." But it didn't come out how I intended for it to. So I realize it sounds like a contridiction. But I later corrected myself and told you exactly what I meant.

And I'm not really upset over it. And about the name calling... I never called you stupid. I called your argument stupid because it doesn't even have anything to do with the topic. And don't take it personally, it's not my intention.

Definatly true, but I'm a pro Pickleball player so who knows.

Are you any good at ping pong? Just figured it is pretty similar to pickleball, so maybe. Plus, I think golf would be hard to get good at. To hit a pin from 100+ yds away is crazy.

BMD004

You did contradict yourself...clarification or not. You can retract a statement, but you cannot change what is said in a debate.
You seemed upset. But you are the only one that knows the answer to that.
-usually when people result to name calling (either about the person or their point) it indicates one of two things:
1. they have nothing left to fight back with (no more points to make)...so that fire away with that
or
2. they are so angry that that is their only means of letting it out

And I was just giving you fair warning about the 'stupid' comment. I only report spam (b/c it annoys me) and pr0n (not safe for work). I am a big boy, and I can take care of myself. But other people are not so kind...and will report you for the smallest of things (or a mod could just happen to see it as well).

I never take anything personally on interwebz. I think in all my time here I have only gotten 'heated' like twice....a sports debate will never be the cause of that
I just enjoy a good logic debate and proving things through mathematical means...this afforded me that opportunity.
After the first page, it was no longer about the actual debate. It was about being able to prove my point through logical analysis (so a successful, fun thread for me)

Now some of you are not gonna agree with me on this, and in my opinion this is a sport, but auto racing. It don't matter what kind. NASCAR, F1, Off-Road/Rally, or even a local track (dirt or asphalt) I think its possibly the most dangerous out there due to the injuries that can be suffered. Being around it all my life I have seen people get seriously injured. Matter of fact, my dad was injured in a racecar accident at are local dirt track in 2005. It also takes alot to get good at. You may think it looks easy, just going fast and turning left, but throttle control, and you can't just turn left and expect to get through the corners easy at high speeds. Especially on the dirt.

Any contact sport is definitely harder than a non-contact sport. Why? Because there's the added element of getting hit. However, for a breakdown of these contact sports, rugby is definitely the hardest, because unlike hockey or football, it's not a constantly stopping game. Oh, and basketball isn't a real sport.

Depends what you mean by hard. Some sports, like skateboarding, don't necessarily take a lot of raw power, but there is a lot of minute manipulations with the skateboard to get it to do what you want, etc While sports like soccer require a lot of cardio. And then gymnastics you have to be able to do all the various flips and stretches etc and that's not exactly easy. So yeah, various sports are "hard" in different ways. There is no "be all end all" difficult sport.

[QUOTE="Diablo-B"][QUOTE="rawsavon"] ... Most here could never be good enough (no matter how much practice) to make the NBA or NFL

I disagree with you there. If you hit the weights, do some endurance training and are dedicated you could be good enough to make an NFL team. There are positions that just require speed and strength. Surely any normal person can build speed and strength.

Erm..so tell me how do I get speed? Cause I'm bloody slow!

I am not a natural athlete, but i still play football. So I have to work harder than most people on the field, so definitely that.
