Who among you are legitimate female gamers?

What is up with these threads? Its 2010 - do girl gamers need a picture and a resume to be taken seriously by both genders? No "legitimate male gamer" will make a thread about this. There are far too many girl-gamers out there already that its not even that male-dominated anymore. Really... its very common now. Why the need for threads like this?Sajedene

I know right? And I want to know the answer to your question too... What is a hardcore gamer? A person who plays Hello Kitty tetris 6 hours a day everyday or a person who plays counterstrike 4 hours a weekend?Sajedene

My definition of hardcore gamer doesn't necessarily correlate to how much time you put into your games, but rather what titles you play and the difficulty of them. I believe that a hardcore game is similar to one who has hardcore music taste..i.e. they (consistently) play a lot more niche and non-mainstream titles. Not only that, those games need to have more challenge than normal. One of the reasons that some of the popular games are so widely recognized is because of how noob-friendly they are. Personally, I find it ludicrous when someone is claiming to be hardcore when all they play is games like Final Fantasy, Halo, and Call of Duty...especially when many of those titles hold your hand the entire way..

But then again, my definition is not shared by everyone and even if it was, it is still pretty vague and I don't like how widespread the term's usage has become.

Legitimate? Well that depends on your definition, but I have been know to play all types of games up until the wee hours and beyond...

What does hardcore mean? Play every game available? have every console? play til you get hospitalized for exhaustion? Skill level at each individual game? I only really play WoW, but I play it for the majority of my day. I don't really think I'm hardcore, just lonely :/XilePrincess
