And what is your favorite work by each?
1. Kazuo Ishiguro-My favorite novel from him is Never Let Me Go, which is my favorite novel ever. The Remains of the Day is also a masterpiece. I like Ishiguro because of his mature take on emotion and his excellent use of memory and unreliable narrators.
2. Stephen King-My favorite novel (or rather novella) from him is Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption. I love the tastefully folksy voice in his novels and he writes children extremely well. His endings can be questionable at times, but he walks a great line between being literary and fun.
3. Philip Pullman-My novel work of his is the His Dark Materials trilogy and I probably like The Subtle Knife the best out of the three of them. Philip Pullman's fantasy world is exotic, has a realistic texture to it, and has more shades of grey to it than other fantasy worlds. Plus his prose is beautifully elegant and lush.
Dean Koontz is my least favorite author. Dude is a hack.
