That would only be true if the universe was infinite, which it is not. The whole reasoning behind this is a classic example of an inductive argument, but really we are being asked to differentiate between two unimaginable things, the numbers of planets and the incredible complexity of life. I therefore see that there is nothing conclusive one way or the other.

I definately don't believe that we will ever contact or be contacted by extraterrestrials, and nothing in physics provides any explanation as to how anything could travel faster than light, so the whole debate is moot.

Yes, I am religious, and I don't see how that has anything to do with it.

I do not believe in extra terrestrials because there is no evidence to support their existence. I do however believe in the possibility that they do exist because the universe is so vast and the chances that life has not formed anywhere else is so low that it is negligible.foxhound_fox

Well, there is no empirical evidence to suggest that there are aliens out there, so we can state it as a possibility at best. But, if I were to venture into the probability argument, I'd side with more likely than not.

How does the Bible hint at extraterrestrials? Do you truly think that would be apparent to first century Israelites? You can't approach the Bible thinking " I believe in X, therefore I will try to find statements in scripture that support X", You have to view it in context.

We could have just as well been a fluke of a planet in a freak of a solar system.

And if you notice, sometimes the same people who go "There has to be life out there" in a thread like this would go "lol faith! God has no proof" in a God/religion thread.
