[QUOTE="Dracargen"][QUOTE="Yetifan"] You seem very pessimistic and boring and I would not want to hang out with you. No offense.Yetifan
I am very pessimistic (being a realist will do that), and most of what I do would be considered boring, so if you don't like it, I wouldn't want to hang out with you, either.:|
You know that is the equivalent of believing in magic or Santa Clause, not saying I dont.(except for santa lol)No, it isn't, and what you just did was
1. Commit a logical fallacy called Equivalence, and
2. Compared what I base my entire life around to a fat man in a red suit on a flying sled and parlor tricks.
Give me one good reason why I shouldn't feel offended.:|
[QUOTE="Ezgam3r"]But there is evidence. And according to some people, like encounters with them (UFOs, abductions etc.) there is PROOF. But I mean of course they could be either lying or crazy, or what if they are not? So just because you havent seen any proof doesnt mean someone else hasnt.Lets put a slight tweak to your paragraph:There is a possibility that aliens exist, but there is no solid proof whatsoever pointing to so. As said before, yes the universe is big (not infinite) and yea there's an assload (or two) of planets out there, but that isn't proof. We could have just as well been a fluke of a planet in a freak of a solar system.
And if you notice, sometimes the same people who go "There has to be life out there" in a thread like this would go "lol faith! God has no proof" in a God/religion thread.
Go figure...

Sure, aliens could exist, but until we have more then a few fuzzy films of stuff in the sky and get something like a piece of the ship or an alien corpse or something, we can't say for sure.

Same goes for the existence of God.
I know, and?Why are you harping on people who believe in God, if you admittedly use the same logic to believe in aliens? That doesn't make sense.
Im not harping on anyone who believes in God, I BELIEVE IN GOD. I also believe in aliens. Realism typically yields a pessimistic view.;)
Hehe, I'm just joshing with you. :P I'm a realist too, but I do slip into pessimism more than I'd like to. Y'know, this reminds me of a neologism from a good friend of mine: optessimistic.
Expect the worst, but hope for the best.

The key difference is that the Bible tries to show some mechanism behind the miracles (God), while magic does not.

Ok cool. But you didnt answer my question. Also another one is do you believe in magic? Believe it or not, it is actually pretty hard for me to differenciate the characteristics and actions of the fictional Santa Clause which was Saint Nick(a factual person who was blown out of proportion into Santa Clause. Ring a bell "JESUS COUGH COUGH", though I'm not saying I dont believe in Jesus Christ and what the bible says he did) to some bible characters and stories.[QUOTE="Yetifan"]And I am questioning why and how you are personally convinced of God's existence and not life on other planets. Jesus did exist, I know that. He was a real person, but he may have been blown out of proportion like Saint Nick, who was a real person, to the fictional Santa Clause. See the resemblence. Though again for the thousanth time I do believe in what the bible says Jesus Christ did(aka Magic) Oh, and I dont feel like googling evidence for extraterrestrial life, but I can tell you some, like what I actually learned in classes in college. There have been planets and moons that have been found with evidence of water, and other essesential things to support life. Some creepily resemble earths atmosphere. Also evidence of microscopic bacteria not of this earth. Most of this is evidence of past life on the planets though. Also an ice sheet of frozen water that many scientisst think might contain alien life under it. Im not a scientist, but i learned this in a class, and from discovery channel. I have no links at the moment, so you should probably google it. I know this evidence is very minute, but it is evidence, more evidence than what the bible has to support its claims. But, I do believe in some things in the bible despite how negativley it may seem I talk about it.[QUOTE="Yetifan"][QUOTE="its_me_"]To be frank, I don't care. Exactly!!! Thank you. When some things they say cant be explained, the really mean that THEY CANT BE EXPLAINED!! I've seen old videos of some objects doing things in the sky that are pretty remarkable. And if they are test aircraft they must have been testing them for over 60 years. Little long dont you think? I guess they didnt workout well then, huh? Why isnt our government using them today then? Or mabyer they are, but why keep it secret from us then?Jesus did exist, I know that. Mars has ice at its polar caps. Europa may have water under its surface, but it could also just have solid ice beneath the crust. Gliese 581 c is said to be in the habitable zone of its solar system but we don't know much about its physical features besides its size, which is bigger then Earth. Another planet (forgot its name) is said to have water, but it's gravity is so high, the water is like ice, hot ice.
That's about it.
Earth is so far the only known planetary body with liquid water and characteristics like itself.
Also evidence of microscopic bacteria not of this earth. Most of this is evidence of past life on the planets though. Also an ice sheet of frozen water that many scientisst think might contain alien life under it.Yetifan
Bacteria has been said to be on astroids (as thats one of the theories of what triggered life on Earth), but so far nothing has come up.

I do believe that organic life-forms inhabit planets where the enviroment permits.
Here's to anal probes.
