I did and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I was getting ready for my summer vacation packing for a flight when the news broke (it was about 4 am my time). I was in shock at first but didn't react much and just kept watching the news on BBC as it happened. But on the plane ride I started remembering the childhood memories that were attached to his songs and how they reminded me of those times making me realize how I grew up with his music (I'm like that, very nostalgic, I'm 24). I shed a tear or two but nowhere near sobbing or anything like that.

I'll also cry when Phil Collins dies (which I hope is a long long long time away) for the same reason though maybe even more because I truly grew up with his music. God bless both him and MJ and R.I.P. MJ.

P.S. Trolls need to shut up.

I liked his music and all, but I still don't see how someone dying is such a big deal.

For me like I said it was more the childhood memories and you longing to go back, it reminded me of how many things I miss from those days and that's where most of the sadness stemmed from.

At the risk of sounding heartless and cold: So what? The guy was alive for 19 more years after the 80's and it still didn't make your childhood come back. :|

It didn't sound cold at all but at the same time I think you missed the point. It's not him, it's the fact that you're reminded of how those good times will never come back. His music made those good times even better. During that moment in the plane I painfully felt sad about how you can never go back which led me to shed a tear and then you move on and look forward to the future. Like I said I didn't moarn or anything like that. And life goes on.

I did...

Not immediately when I heard it, but I was in denial. I didn't acknowledge he was actually dead until his memorial, then I cried like a baby for like 3 hours.

eh... I did.. I think people who cried really felt like they lost something they didn't realize. For me it was mainly because I was going to the O2 concerts and it would have been my first time EVER seeing MJ live. So yeah it was a combination of shock and frustration that made the tear finally shed. When all is said and done though I know it was pretty stupid of me to feel that way.

I didn't know the man or was a huge fan of his music, so no, I did not cry. I was far more saddened by Billy Mays death which happened around the same time.

I did not cry when MJ died. It was big news and then for months that was all you heard about in the media, they kinda desensitized it.

When watching that memorial on TV I was really close, I had to stop myself from crying.

He was an amazing person and we practically put him through hell, it was tragic his life was ruined by us and he died so young etc.

I wasn't upset about the fact I wont get to hear any new amazing music or see him perform etc.

Never said I was/was not a fan... :? -Charles Barkely is my favorite athlete EVER...would not cry if he died, don't know him -if the entire band Rise Against (my favorite band) died in a plane crash, I would not cry (does not mean that it is not a sad event, but why cry over someone you do not know)

I didn't cry, but I did feel sad. I always feel sad when I hear of somebodies death. But at the end of the day I accept it as just the way things are.

that annoys me as well as much as i dont like michael jackson i never talk bad about him being dead. i saw one dude wearing a shirt saying "mj is finally gone on the front and then kids can finally be safe on the back" which seems beyond rude. even if paris hilton somehow died i would still offer my condolences.
