That stuff is even too hardcore for my taste. I like rough music but i also like hearing the words to the song and not just roaring.L8erSquareTry some Vader then :D
i love death metal, it is totally awesome
if you dont like it you are probably a pansie
it takes alot to enjoy it tho, ill admit that
maybe its an aquired taste.. but ive always loved the death metal, death metal growling makes me shiver.. rawr

The screaming sucks, it is so lame. If it was comedic music it would be fine. It's pretty funny.
The instrumental stuff is alright. Though, I have noticed they seem to play slightly out of sync on purpose or something. It's definetly an aquired taste.

its really hard to growl like that, really hard.. in fact harded than singing clean.. some vocalists can do both, and its friggin sweet.. especially when they do both in the same song

How hard the screaming is matters not, it's still ridiculous. What would you do if you saw someone growling like that in public? You'd think they are a nutter. If you saw someone singing in public you wouldn't batt an eye.

if i saw someone like that just growling, ofc i'd think he's a nutter
if he was backed up by a band, id think it was cool
if you saw a random dude doing britney spears toxic dance in public wouldnt you think he was a nutter?
if he was backed up by fellow dancers and music you would probably not think so
I didn't really like any metal until I heard Martyr. I like a few death metal bands, but not the genre as a whole.

Its quite normal to see people singing quietly to themselves in public. What about quietly growling to yourself in public? No, because its stupid, people just make concessions for their music.

I brought it up merely to demonstrate the moronic nature of the vocal style.

answering to what you said earlier, if people are singing/growling quietly it doesnt matter.. if they're quiet why would i look at them like a nutter? the reason why people generally dont like growling is because they're not exposed to it, its an aquired taste.. and there IS a difference between growling and just screaming
my friend got me some songs but man...that stuff is either laughable or stupid IMO.dominer
its an acquired taste. I like a few death metal bands, but most of it bores me. And please, tell us the bands/songs he gave you.
Also, did you ask for them or did he just give them to you?
I have to agree, alot of death metal is laughable. I like death metal though but ehh everyone has thier opinion on music and thier prefered types of vocals. SlashDementia3
now.. if you wanna see something laughable.. you should see low budget norwegian death metal music videos
best thing you'll ever see

Death metal isn't a mainstream genre, it's not supposed to be easily approachable music. You don't hear it on the popular radio stations ( unless they have programs that play only metal) and there's a reason for it. Some people claim that they have heard some death metal songs and hated them, later it turns out that they heard some Slipknot song from the radio and that's it...
It's definitely an acquired taste ( like whiskey) and it'll grow on you if you let/want it.
I'm pretty much into all kinds of metal ( death metal being my fav, power/heavy metal isn't my thing though) but I also like movie scores, Drum 'n' Bass and some trance ( older Infected Mushroom is cool)

THANK YOU, my dear finnish friend
my point exactly
I don't particularly like metal. Like in any other genre, I'm sure if I tried I could probably find something that I like, so I won't say I "can't stand" it.Ryeferd
You likely could with how diverse metal is. It really is the most diverse genre there is. There are so many subgenres you will hear arguements over different sub-genres and whether or not bands belong in those sub-genres....

It's either that, or you've just heard bands that can't play. I hate sloppy playing, good DM bands are accurate, know their instruments and are spot on when it comes to timing. Aeon is a prime example (there are MANY others) of staying in time and playing fast, brutal music. Of course it's also cool to hear something original hehhe.
Simply the most irritating music in the world. The grinding and screaming about death and murder requires absolutely no talent and is no fun to listen to. The least they could do is stop making their guitars screech and maybe make the lyrics make sense...Myrkan
First of all, all DM isn't about death and murder. Second, DM songs have usually very complex riffs and time patterns (competing with some of the most effed up jazz/funk compositions actually) which naturally require that you know music theory and know your instrument well. DM vocals complete the aggressive feel of the songs, make them full. Lyrics can be utter ****, but they can also have deeper messages and meanings.
