Who else is horrified by Elfen Lied?

I am.(Elfen Lied is an anime about a girl named Lucy) Incest, senseless murder and violence, pedophilia, infanticide, patricide, matricide, killing of animals and all that stuff. Normally, I have no problem with excessive violence and pointless murder in my anime, because those that are killed either deserve it or are just another group of pixels of light on my TV. Not so in Elfen Lied, every human that is murdered is given actual expressions, and this makes it almost unbearable to watch.

What are you're thoughts/analysis on all this violence? (NOTE: I never said this was a bad anime, in fact, I very much find it intriguing.)

murdering of children is infanticide.

I saw a clip of it on youtube, my firend whos into anime said it's possibly the bloodiest anime ever. All the clip showed was this girl flying around ripping people apart with her mind. pretty pointless.

That anime is supposed to be dark.  You are SUPPOSED to be horrified by the stuff you see in it, but can you honestly say it isn't a great series because of it?

Eh...it was pretty bloody and violent, but it was not too bad.  Definitely NOT for children though, it may scar them for life.

The one part that got me was at the near end of the anime.(possible spoilers)

The female scientist tried to act like a mother to one of those children..all caring for her and stuff.....then BAM! everything turns sour and next thing you know, the scientist is inside out.

I could point you to youtube for some fan-made AMV's, ut thats as much as I am allowed to give you. Oh, and the show contains nudity, female kind. Hell, the first five minutes involves the main character walking nude through a secret base murdering everyone after breaking free.

Never watched it.

It is a pretty good anime.  It is the only anime worse than Gantz (concerning gore and stuff, they are both good animes).

I love that anime.

The violence makes it interesting.

What is the plot of this show?

From what I gather, it's about masses of lesbian pedophiles decapitating each other at random.

story begins with a naked young girl named Lucy escaping under odd circumstances from an insular research facility off the coast of Kamakura in the Kanagawa Prefecture of Japan. Lucy manages to nonchalantly dismember and slay a fair number of the staff and guards with a form of seemingly supernatural power and gets outside. A sniper is seen trying to shoot her, only managing to ricochet a bullet off her metal helmet. Lucy then falls off a cliff into the sea, bleeding from her head but ultimately surviving and evading the research staff.

Lucy is not a normal human but rather a diclonius: a mutant variant of humans with two small horns on their heads (hence the name diclonius) that resemble cat ears. The diclonius race possesses telekinetic powers through use of their "vectors", invisible arms that they control with a number and length of reach depending on the diclonius.

The day after Lucy's escape, a boy named Kohta arrives at Kamakura to meet his cousin Yuka. Kohta has come to study at the local university and has been given lodging at an old, family-owned inn, the "Maple (楓,Kaede?) Inn", provided he acts as the caretaker. After meeting with Yuka, they go for a visit to the beach and find Lucy washed up on the shore, still naked and bleeding from her head. The head trauma Lucy experienced causes her to develop a split personality. In stark contrast to the cold and sadistic Lucy, this personality is completely docile, harmless and is incapable at first of saying anything other than "Nyū". Not knowing what to do with her, Kohta and Yuka take her back to the inn to look after her and name her "Nyū". Yuka quickly decides that it will be best that she also live at the inn.

Kohta, Nyū, and Yuka begin settling into their life at the inn and Nyū begins to dredge up painful repressed memories from Kohta's past. Meanwhile, the researchers from the laboratory where Lucy was held begin searching for her, dispatching both human and diclonius agents to hunt her down

i LOVE that anime, its 1 of the first i'm seen thats soo gruesome and sick, i love that part in the 1st ep where the girl gets beheaded:D i just wished they made more eps or at least another seasondak_phoenix

I liked the overall theme of and messa ge of the anime..but the nudity was unnecessary.cheetah_TM

I loved it. The story was excellent, the animation is beautiful, the music is some of the best ever and even if it had lot's of blood, nudity..etc, i didn't think any of it was forced or heavy-handed.

The Anime is meant to be sad, bloody and shocking and if some think they can't handle it, it's just not the anime for them.
