Elvis,

Of those 2, Beatles. They had a cult following in their time, and defined the British invasion.

As overrated as the Beatles are, they probably innovated a lot more than MJ. But then i think Thriller pretty much set the bar for production values in music videos.

love how you try and talk about legacy and influence and then only talk about your own personal choice. It's obviously the beatles, for a start they played their own instruments.

The Beatles. One of the reasons being that there is four of them to one. People think of John Lennon and McCarntey as Gods, not to mention there is still Harrison and Starr to boot. That being said, I do enjoy the Beatles, but find myself growing tired of their music.

In under 10 years the Beatles wrote/recorded over 300 songs while Michael Jackson had under 100 in 30 years.

MJ was huge and has the record sales to prove it but the Beatles defined a generation. The beatles changed the music scene. MJ was just really good 80's pop.

I'm not really sure since I didn't really grow up when they were hugely popular.

But I like MJ's music way better.

LOL, The Beatles without a doubt. I think that The Beatles were more innovative. Michael Jackson was a good dancer and very flashy and therefore put on good shows, but I wouldn't say that he was much better than just...fun pop music. The Beatles started off as pop but went in a lot of different directions, and eventually they all had relatively successful solo careers. Look at Beatlemania at the height of their popularity in the '60s, and look at how many people still listen to their music even though we are now a few generations away from their origin. So many bands were influenced by The Beatles - just think of the British Invasion at the time.

The Beatles for legacy, Michael Jackson as an entertainer.

I really like both a lot though, it's like picking between awesome and awesome.

There are artist from all different genres and decades that are hugely influencial and have great legacies.

Michael Jackson grew up listening to the Beatles and McCartney.

So, the Beatles win by default.

The Beatles. MJ didn't do much but make overrated pop music. While The Beatles did the same for some of their carrer they turned that around and said "FU" we're doing it our way.

Most bands were inspired by The Beatles and it kicked off a new generation of music. They're not overrated either, every single song is a good listen. There is no other band like that.

I would consider the 5-10 or so songs that Ringo wrote to be near the "bad" spectrum. I usually skip them when I listen to the Beatles

Legacy wise The Beatles hands down, just for what they created and did to music.. I don't like a lot of MJ's music to tell the truth, so personally it would be The Beatles as well

The Beatles. I love MJ - a fantastic talent, but was propped up by the likes of Quincey Jones and songwriters like Rod Temperton. As a front man and performer he was unbelievable though. Influence? Who knows... Probably the Beatles..... but maybe not...

Jacko for sure. I'm not a big fan of either, but i know alot more michael jackson songs than the beatles. Hey Jude was awful and rock and roll music was copied off chuck berry (another legend). Why this overrated band known as the beatles are adored my so many people i will never know. Simply can't hold a candle to the likes of Elvis, Jacko and Chuck Berry

What music you know has no bearing as to who was more influential. Nor would personal preference. You have to distance opinion. Look at most any band today and they've been influenced by The Beatles. Not nearly as many would select MJ. And The Beatles continue to be an influence since they started around the 60s. MJ's career had stalled until his death brought him back into the public eye. The two really shouldn't even be compared TBH....
