This whole conversation kind of reminds me of two teenagers arguing over whose pain is worse. But I think it is fun to think about what grouping would be the hardest to be. Maybe a black gay Muslim left-handed transsexual woman.

Then you clearly need to open your eyes. I live in Canada and they are definitely discriminated against here. It may not be as bad as other countries but it still happens. Especially in rural areas.

Given the choice, i would rather be called "that black guy" over African American. I'm not African. My parents aren't African. My grandparents aren't African. My great-grandparents weren't African. We don't call white people European Americans. So why the emphasis on calling black people African Americans?

I wasn't aware there was a competition on who was discriminated more. In the public arena, homosexuals are behind the curve when it comes to privileges set forth by society. Behind the public arena, a midst the underlying notions in the minds of the generalized American public, black individuals may be forced to fight underlying prejudices depending on the place of reference. For the most part, I would say homosexuals have it worse off because they are overtly discriminated against both in the public arena and behind the arena in their very homes and families. Ironically, I would argue a large portion of the race-tensions are put forth by the very people who are arguing for equality.
