how is that not true at all? that WAS when it was most popular. you got your beatles hippies and your alman brother hippies and somewhere inbetween we got some metal hippies that just turned into metal heads.I love 90's hip hop. Not so much anymore. Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Drake need to leave the game, and then maybe I'll like it again. majadamusI can agree except i don't love 90's just enjoy some of it.
I'm bumping Mood Muzik 4 at the moment, so um, yeah. Safe to say that I do indeed, love Hip Hop music.
Typical OT right here. Yes I do love it to answer your question.Hip Hop! Yuck, that crappy fake music $h!ts me. Whenever I listen to some fool sing about how rich he is it makes me want to puke. The only respecatable Hip hop artist is Eminem 'cause he actually sings about real things. And then he isn't even any good.

Ive got X-Raideds first album. The one where hes holding the .38 to his head. It's pretty good. If you like him you should check out Brotha Lynch Hung, Or my personal favorite underground Horrorcore group Jedi Mind Tricks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywIy5PyoPEkI grew up listenin to hiphop/rap my whole life so i've heard alot of good mc's in nearly 37yrs but there's one name that everyone needs to check X Raided, one of the realest mc's in rap ever.
H'e beein jail for a very long time now and his lyrics have grown with him whilst most other rappers are talkin about how big their chain is or how hoe's they did X talks about real life and his own personal thoughts from the perspective of an incarcerated man since age 17.
I have a huge respect and would urge anyone who considers themselves a fan of rap to check his music out.

What logic?
Mainstream hip-hop today should be renamed to hip-pop.
Mainstream rap today should be renamed to crap.
90s were my favorite times listening to rap but it's hard to bear it now with mainstream butchering it. There are handfuls of underground rappers though :D

I like Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Tricky and Kid Cudi. Everything else can piss off.

Kid Cudi is amazing.
What about this or this? Haha, i totally knew it was going to be nujabes in response to that before i clicked the link :P I love nujabes, and i do love hip hop...though im very selective with what i like. As we all know, theres a lot of garbage out there, especially in todays modern hip hop that may leave a nasty taste in a lot of peoples mouths who never really looked deep into the genre, like our friend DmadFearmonger here.;)[QUOTE="rockerbikie"]

Metallica is one band. You don't define metal with "metallica".Kid Cudi is definitelly one of my favorite rappers today. Him and MGMT(which is a really great band too) in Pursuit of Happiness sounds so good. And Beastie Boys represent what Hip Hop was suppose to always be about in the beginning. But other than that, Kanye West, Drake, Nas and The Game are about theonly good single artist rappers that I like these days. I know Kanye's got some haters but hes got a lot of talent. And Drake might be my cousin so yeah i'm supportive(he has the same last name as me, being Graham, and i've got a flood of relatives that live in Toronto). And Nas and The Game are about the realest mainstream rappers there are these days.I like Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Tricky and Kid Cudi. Everything else can piss off.

Okay then.
Metallica
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Anthrax
Pantera
Megadeth
Slayer
Dream Theater
Tool
Korn
Opeth
System of a Down
Nevermore
Slipknot
Death
Kyuss
Avenged Sevenfold
Ozzy post-Black Sabbath
In Flames
That's off the top of my head and I don't even listen to metal. You can't possibly say "metal was only big around Woodstock".
(I realize some of the bands I listed aren't the most loved bands by metalheads around here but they're still really popular so I included them)

I was lucky enough to get to see the Roots perform that live a couple years ago, before they stopped touring and joined Late Night with Jimmy Fallon :)
