If the iPad had a Stylus and ran OS X, I would buy one without a second thought, but it doesn't have those things, so I probably won't be getting one.

I actually don't. This happens every time that apple is about to come out with a new product. The techies see the obvious shortcomings of a new Apple product, but the masses will buy it anyways. For instance if you check out the current youtube videos on the ipad the people who obviously don't care about the specs mostly think that the Ipad's biggest short coming is it's lack of camera.I have a feeling that the iPad will be an epic fail for Apple.

I'd like to pick one up just so I could drop it from a high building. Provided I didn't actually pay for it, that is...
A tablet computer that doesn't actually do most of the things that you buy a computer to do?

I'm totally underwhelmed by the entire thing. There's nothing that it's actually good at....jack of all trades master of none. It's basically just a more powerful and bigger iPhone (minus the phone). No Flash. No multitask. It also sounds like it's using a mobile chipset. Even the Atom netbooks should be able to run rings around that.

Firstly, if it is about reading books...... hmmmmm..... they are out of battery in an hour? If they are really just a tablet PC, being there done that and people still want a keyboard and so on. If it is just a gaint iPhone, well, we got iPhone already, and at least the bettery last a bit longer since the screen is way smaller.magicalclickactually its 10 hours of battery, but to be fair that will probably be closer to 6 hours in reality.
I'm begining to think that touch-screens are just one big gimmick.
All they do is present a different way of doing things that could be done before...
Sure it looks cool when you use it, but that's about all you can say about it...
No, I do not plan on buying an iPad.

Who can say "Free E-Book reader on the Apple appstore"?
I am kinda thinking about it but the lack of flash and usb port kinda blows. It kinda reminds me of just a oversized iphone without the cell phone calling/txting ability. Don't know if that's a bad thing or not but the price tag seems kinda reasonable.. What do you think of the ipad and are you planning on picking one up?
