tom had his own style esp when he did solos and hooks he would bend the strings pull them twist the screws while he was playing etc etc etc

but i think this guy was going for more like traditional guitar players and tom is anything but that which makes him special

I gotta go with Tom Morello...simply for originality.

Any good guitarist can shred or come up with a nice riff...but Tom has something that most guitarists don't.

I agree about the Audioslave stuff. But when they came to New Zealand for the Big Day Out it was epic. Even his night watchmen stuff was awesome. Haha

Well, regarding Tom Morello, I think he is highly original and creative, and he can make very awesome sounds with his guitar.

Regarding the topic, there is no such thing as the "best"guitarrist, but some of my favorites are Allan Holdsworth, Pat Metheny, Alex Lifeson, Roine Stolt, Issei Noro, Paul Gilbert, and from the guitarrists that are best known, I think that Jimi Hendrix is a legend IMO; buckethead is awesome, and from the shredders I think that John Petrucci has an awesome combination of speed, technique, and feeling (which most guitarrist lack IMO).

Note: This was just my personal opinion.

Technically Joe Satriani is the best I think, because he masters every technique of the electic guitar.

But I am more a fan of guitarist like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton.
