 What fun, a thread where everyone likes to exercise their personal self superiority as displayed by their wonderful taste in music. This concept of music being "overrated" is absurd. It's simply a case of music that dosn't suit your own personal taste. That has nothing to do with how well rated the music is.
[QUOTE="PurpleHaze89"]Some People seriously have a bad taste in music.....RikardurAnd you don't? In my opinion there isn't one person that doesn't have bad taste in music, everyone is going to disagree with someone liking something, but all that matters is someone own opinion.
rush and Nine Inch Nails mostly....but no ones saying there bad, they just get more credit than they have earned...Some People seriously have a bad taste in music.....

Metallica, Nirvana, The Beatles pop to mind. They all have their good stuff (except Nirvana), but they're not the musical gods some people make them out to be.
It is impossible for a band to be "overrated" because there is no actual rating system. The entire concept of a band being "overrated" is absurd.
Instead, this thread should be called "Bands I do not like but other people like"
Here's some more, Green Day, the Doors, The Beatles, Led Zepplin, Nirvana, Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd.Aspen706Oh no you didnt.... you did not just called the bealtes and the doors overated.. I m gonna get you... and its going to hurt :@
10 years ago I would have said Radiohead.
5 years ago I would have said Radiohead
Today I think it's still Radiohead.
Opeth
Dream Theater
Black Sabbath
The Thrash Big Four (Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer)
Between the Buried and Me
Bathory
Rikardur
These I can understand, and agree with
Tool
Rikardur
This I can sort of understand....
Pink Floyd
Porcupine Tree
Rikardur
ur crazed! :P
Nirvana.
Don't get me wrong, Nevermind is an amazing album, but it gets far too much praise when Alice In Chains' Dirt came out in the same year (I think?)
Tool is not overrated. You just DONT GET IT.

I wouldn't say overrated in that sense. I used to be a huuuuge tool fan. Back during Aenima and well into Lateralus. I kinda got burned out when 10,000 days was released. I still love their music, but I can understand where a lot of the Tool hate comes from. A major part being the fans themselves. Even I will admit, the hardcore toolfans are some of the most annoying people in music. But even so, most people just haven't been turned on to the right Tool song. They hear some played out song on the radio, and call them over-rated, which is a bit of a shame.:( But still, it's all opinion in the end.
People said that they invited the genre when Peal Jams ten came out before. They made grunge music popular nevermind wasnt bad ( it was very good) but yeah i can see your point.Nirvana.

It is just people saying they don't like a band as much as other people. Saying a band is "overrated" has absolutely no merit.

blind Tool fans are the second worst fanbase, the first being Radiohead. Now don't get me wrong, Tool is awesome, and I really like them, but damn is their fanbase ****ing annoyingl.
Iron Maidenloft8000WHAT?!? How can a band that helped redefine the metal genre and lead the new wave of British heavy metal be overrated? You must have HIGH standards.
Can't decide between Radiohead and Avenged Sevenfold. They're ok-ish but not great like everbody swears they are.
[QUOTE="no_more_fayth"]What the... I just... wha.... grrr... pff.... whatever man.Led Zeppelin.
cd_rom
They're terrible.
The Beatles (They have some good songs but are nowhere near "the best band of all time" as many people like to call them)
Pink Floyd (Don't like any of their songs)
Radiohead (Only good song was "Creep")
Nine Inch Nails (Only good song was "Closer")
Rush
SEX PISTOLS, they are really horrible in my opinion
Minor Threat
The Smiths
Bloc Party
Rise against(Good slow songs, bad everything else)
Poison( "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" is the only good song)
U2 (Some good music but praised too highly for their abilities in comparison)
