The Ramones aren't that overrated at all. Their fanbase isn't as large as it's made out to be, seeing as how about 90% of the "fanbase" happens to fit under that description because they own a "Ramones" shirt and have one of the Tony Hawk games.
The critics weren't too favorable about them either. Though, this is my pitiful defense of the Ramones as a major fan.
It seems like everything is overrated these days. If someone doesn't like something that other people do, they label it overrated. You're not gonna like every good artist, and that's that. It's a trap for artists, because if they're not underrated, they're overrated, and vice versa. You guys really overuse the word. Just because it's mainstream doesn't mean it's renowned. Nobody really respects Panic! at the Disco as artists. Plus, calling Bob Dylan overrated is ridiculous. He's a lyrical genius and has wrote some of the best songs of all time. He's one of the best political artists especially. Maybe you don't like his voice, harmonica playing, or soft playing style, but that doesn't give you a right to call him overrated.

But now people consider them the greatest punk band ever. Even though I like the band, it's not as good as other great punk bands of the time.

I don't get why people are such big fans of Tool, half of their songs are mostly silence, it gets boring.
I was listening to Rosetta Stoned last night (I was bored and I have Comcast Digital Cable) and I swear I changed channels at least 3 times (commercials) and it was still playing.

silence you fools! system of a down is one of the best bands out there, theyre (usually) one of the deepest bands out there if you or anyone out there dont like them cause you dont get them then your not deep enought to get them. have to highly disagree with metallica also their one of the best bands out there (at least the first 5 albums after that meh) suprised no one has mentioned pantera their also one of the best out there imo.

Opinion is not fact. I hate the "not deep enough" argument as well. To be honest SOAD is mediocre music. Their lyirics aren't particularly deep....just their political views.

Are you serious? Nobody or band is "deep" (and if DEFINATELY not SOAD). It's hilarious when people think they are deep though.
