Both Christina Aguilera and Shakira can get my attention with their voice. Other than that, I'm largely indifferent to any and all female musical artists. I like my music heavy, loud, distorted and masculine.

Pat Benatar

CHOASXIII

I like her cover of Wuthering Heights. Not nearly as good as the original, but she did a pretty good job.

Not many female musicians I listen to that I think about it...ummm...*opens spotify and looks*

Sister Sin is ok now and then

SisterSinBandPhoto.jpg

Hayley Williams has a great voice, moreso in her solo work than band work

Hayley+Williams+1.jpg

Joan Jett is good too

Come to think of it, Ana Tijoux is the only female artist that I actually listen to, and I only started listening to her recently. I'll also mention that I really enjoy the voice of Lisa Miskovsky, but I haven't had a chance to actually listen to her music beyond the song "Still Alive."

Carrie Underwood.

voice is amazing.

i heard her cover of Hearts "Alone" and it was amazing. not many people can sing Ann Wilson and actually do a good job of it.

the only country singer i actually like. and shes damn pretty.

konvikt_17

adding on to this post with honorable mentions.

i like all these artists but not more than Carrie:

Amy Lee(Evanescense) love her voice. she can get deep and it still sound great then she can get pretty high. recently got back into them and loving it.

Hayley Williams(Paramore). nice voice. she seems like an awesome person to hang out with.

Alicia Keys. is just amazing. recently went through some of her songography(its a word now:cool: ) and dont know why i dont have any songs of hers on my phone. best R&B singer imo.

Katy Perry. ive got a soft spot for her. nice whimsical songs. pretty good voice imo.

Bjork

Here's young Bjork with the Sugarcubes in the late 80's:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFQPNApwJGU

beautiful song until you realize how twisted the lyrics are, making the song even better

and Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins has my vote for best voice, (well, with Bjork).....voice of an angel

Right now it's probably Lady Gaga. I wanted to say Nicki Minaj but she really disappointed me with her Columbine lyric from the Roman Reloaded song. But next year I'll probably have another favorite female artist.

Now, if you're trying to ask who is my favorite of all time I'll have to put Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Madonna in a hat, close my eyes, and pull to figure out which one I like the most. Who I may be giving the most play time to right now may not match who I find the best of all time.

Can't believe she actually went there.

Anyway, I really like some of Janet's classics and Mariah has a stunning voice even if her music herself doesn't do much for me. Well, except for Dreamlover. That's a great song.

Hm, yes...I guess my lack of female artists in my playlists are seriously lacking. Well here are a few I like anyways: - Ellie Goulding - Adele - Shakira I've heard of Bjork but never really listened to her much. I guess after this I ought to. :)

Wish there was more links... too lazy to look up the favorites posted I haven't listened to. :P Female artists are my favorite because some of them have voices of an angel, always looking for additions to my collection. But my top favorite is Shanice Wilson.

It just recently came to my attention that Kate Bush did a song for The Golden Compass. It's not bad, but a little boring for a Kate Bush song.

BTW, I did watch that movie (didn't even begin to do the book justice), but I never actually listened to the music in the credits.

It'll probably grow on me. Itis quite atmospheric. The melody probably just needs to sink its claws into me.

Well, considering she has to sing about Lyra, that's not surprising. I mean, I love Lyra, but I don't think she makes for compelling lyrics.

If you do read it, prepared to read the entire trilogy cause it ends on a serious cliffhanger.

I don't have that many female singers in my playlists either. There's a few though:

Anna Nalick

Natalie Merchant

Natalie Merchant

Sarah MacLachlan

Tracy Chapman

I think that's it for my whole playlist.

What kind of electronic do you listen to?

British drill'n'bass/acid stuff. Detroit techno. Ambient music. Weird stuff. Not into all that boring club music that's popping up all over the place these days. Autechre, Aphex, Squarepusher, VSnares, Clark, Basinski, Tim Hecker etc. Don't know if you guys know any of those, but.. that kind of stuff.

Well, I was about to pimp the album Ray of Light (because I'm obsessed with that album and pimp it whenever I can) but I think it's probably a too mainstream for your tastes even if it is ambient and atmospheric rather than clubby. Still, there's a chance you might like a track like Skin even tho there's a better chance you won't. :P
