Carrie Underwood.
voice is amazing.
i heard her cover of Hearts "Alone" and it was amazing. not many people can sing Ann Wilson and actually do a good job of it.
the only country singer i actually like. and shes damn pretty.

adding on to this post with honorable mentions.
i like all these artists but not more than Carrie:
Amy Lee(Evanescense) love her voice. she can get deep and it still sound great then she can get pretty high. recently got back into them and loving it.
Hayley Williams(Paramore). nice voice. she seems like an awesome person to hang out with.
Alicia Keys. is just amazing. recently went through some of her songography(its a word now:cool: ) and dont know why i dont have any songs of hers on my phone. best R&B singer imo.
Katy Perry. ive got a soft spot for her. nice whimsical songs. pretty good voice imo.
Bjork
Here's young Bjork with the Sugarcubes in the late 80's:

beautiful song until you realize how twisted the lyrics are, making the song even better
and Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins has my vote for best voice, (well, with Bjork).....voice of an angel

Right now it's probably Lady Gaga. I wanted to say Nicki Minaj but she really disappointed me with her Columbine lyric from the Roman Reloaded song. But next year I'll probably have another favorite female artist.
Now, if you're trying to ask who is my favorite of all time I'll have to put Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Madonna in a hat, close my eyes, and pull to figure out which one I like the most. Who I may be giving the most play time to right now may not match who I find the best of all time.

Can't believe she actually went there.
Anyway, I really like some of Janet's classics and Mariah has a stunning voice even if her music herself doesn't do much for me. Well, except for Dreamlover. That's a great song.

I love Liv Kristine the most.
Oy vey.
It just recently came to my attention that Kate Bush did a song for The Golden Compass. It's not bad, but a little boring for a Kate Bush song.
BTW, I did watch that movie (didn't even begin to do the book justice), but I never actually listened to the music in the credits.

It'll probably grow on me. Itis quite atmospheric. The melody probably just needs to sink its claws into me.

Well, considering she has to sing about Lyra, that's not surprising. I mean, I love Lyra, but I don't think she makes for compelling lyrics.

Yeah its probably due to the target audience of the film, which is little kids I assume. I liked it too.[QUOTE="GreySeal9"]

IDK, maybe he has a huge d---I mean, maybe he has a great personality.
I don't have that many female singers in my playlists either. There's a few though:
Anna Nalick
Natalie Merchant
Natalie Merchant
Sarah MacLachlan
Tracy Chapman
I think that's it for my whole playlist.

I love Tracy Chapman. Fast Car is one of my favorite songs. Those lyrics!
I don't think I actually listen to female artists, now that I think about it. They're not very good at the whole electronic music thing.

What kind of electronic do you listen to?
British drill'n'bass/acid stuff. Detroit techno. Ambient music. Weird stuff. Not into all that boring club music that's popping up all over the place these days. Autechre, Aphex, Squarepusher, VSnares, Clark, Basinski, Tim Hecker etc. Don't know if you guys know any of those, but.. that kind of stuff.[QUOTE="GreySeal9"][QUOTE="001011000101101"]

Still, there's a chance you might like a track like Skin even tho there's a better chance you won't. :P
