The anti-hero sprung into popularity during the 90's, portraying a hero who was anti.
In any case, convince us why he's so cool and provide background story for emotional connection.

this is a trick one. I could say kratos but thats too easy. theres greed from FMA Brotherhood. Then theres Ozymandis from Watchmen.
Spawn counts as an anti hero right...?Jing16He sure does and I also agree with Spawn being the coolest Anti-Hero even though the live action movie sucked hard.

These two..
Yeah, I was kind of thinking folks like Shylock and Ozymandias cross pretty decidedly over the line into "villain":? you guys dont know what the word means. An anti-hero is a protagonist.

[QUOTE="gamedude2020"]Yeah, I was kind of thinking folks like Shylock and Ozymandias cross pretty decidedly over the line into "villain" I never exactly got the distinction - Barabas is quite definitely the protagonist in The Jew of Malta - is that all it takes to be an anti-hero rather than a villain, even when he's far more "villainous" than Shylock?:? you guys dont know what the word means. An anti-hero is a protagonist.

I pick rorschach because he is a man filled with anger and sadness and only does whats necessary for him. He only has gray on him, not black or white and is mad himself.
I was wondering this. Char seems to be a villian, but he's complicated. Like Magneto, he'll do whatever necessary to achieve his goals.:? you guys dont know what the word means. An anti-hero is a protagonist.

This is the Char from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam.
[QUOTE="super_mario_128"][QUOTE="spazzx625"]Mersault in Camus' The Strangerspazzx625Best be joking. I despise Meursault. :x Interesting...In what way? Also, couldn't it be argued that was Camus' intention? His intention or not, the whole "I am an outcast, look at me as I remain consistently apathetic to social norms throughout the text" role bored me. The book itself is pretty good though. Particularly the la premiere partie. It has a great claustrophobic atmosphere.

I think I'm just a bit dim because I still don't get it :(.
I felt sympathy for Shylock, and even though he displayed less humanity then Shylock, Shylock is considered a villain whereas Barabas is an anti-hero. I'm guessing that a villain has to play opposite a hero then, is that close? :?

Magneto is the protagonist in some comics.. And he does things and believes in things that the stereotypical hero does not do.. Hence he is a anti-hero.. Wolverine is a anti hero..

Yeah, I agree with your assessment, but I thought he made a great character since he was so unlikable and impossible to relate to on any sane level. His complete apathy is appalling, yet intriguing to me.
