Does anyhere learnt or planning to learn how to program in C?
I'm currently learning it, I have a book titled 'C for Dummies', it's very useful... I recommend anyone to grab this book if you plan to learn C.

C for Dummies is pretty incomplete ;x
Go for something a bit better =)

Yeah, I know C, although C++ and C# would be the languages I'd recommend people learn if they want to program for a profession.GabuEx
I honestly don't know how people can actually like C# so much.. Seriously, it's so.. I don't know lol
I had to program drivers for an Ethernet controller, and then make a GUI for it with C# on grade 11. Thank God it was an easy thing to do.. C# is IMO a terrible language X_x
C++ is teh best one (imo) ;D
i have looked at it, but my school teaches VB.net, which whilst simple, it isnt brilliant.Gigagamer2
I love VB

C++ is good for some things but it's terrible if you write business software. C# is great for team projects especially when the scope runs for several years.
I wrote a rudimentary audio mixer using C back in university, but haven't touched it since. C isn't really as useful these days, I think, as are its derivatives, especially Java and C#. C++ is also fairly handy to have under your belt.
C, however, still serves a purpose. I think it's useful as a first step, a beginning language and a gateway to other, newer, and potentially more powerful languages.

I personally don't like C#. And it's a matter of taste ;D
I know quite a lot of C#, and it's not that great at all.
C++ is comfortable, and has quite great IDE's. Anything you would do with C#, I could do it with C++. Meh.
Also, C++ is portable (Unlike C# which is dependent on .NET), and I believe (never tested, may be wrong, but almost sure) performance-wise, it's better and faster.

Just use whatever is best for the situation. I write business software. The company I work for uses C# and Java. Personally I don't care. Whatever puts food on the table works for me.

what about whatever puts coffee on the table? huh? HUH?
It doesn't seem like C is used much anymore.
I'm learning Java right now, and I want to learn C++ as well.
I feel like I'm way behind if I have to get the knowledge of other lauganges.
I was told to avoid VB... I was told that users would pick up bad habits. it's too Basic
Java is too much... as C is simpler. As java throw alot at you. it's painful.

Mircosoft offers C# Express for free... I took a test run and it is getting on my nerves alittle bit. I had to back away, I think I'll take another shot at it some other time.
