I'm ok with Vista I suppose. When I first got it the only thing that stopped me from reinstalling XP was Vista's ability to use a thumb drive for added RAM. Now that I've used Vista for a while I'm content. I'd really like to have a Macbook though...mindstorm
let me tell u, macs arent good if you enjoy computers

I think people hate it without actually using it. The search thing is great (as in an instant search in the start bar) and while it did have some problems most have been fixed and I've had very few compatiability errors. Its never really crashed without it being my fault. Its a good OS with bad press.

Vista works just fine, you just have to disable the pop-ups.

Since SP1 it's alot faster, file operations (copy, move, dlete) used to take forever. I like it alot now cause i'm using it different from XP, i don't use my desktop anymore cause the quick launch bar has all my usual programs (steam, FF, email ect) and i have the games file straight off the start menu, if i want other programs i can just search.

i hate vista im gonna keep Xp and hold out and hope windows 7 is better. i hate theres no file or other such menus in windows explorer like "my computer" in vista. for me its inconvienent and wastes my time looking for what i needcornholio157

they are in vista in the left hand sidebar of the explorer and you can always just click on the adress barand type computer or just use the pull down arrow at the start of the adress bar or you can add it to the left hand sidebar favorites so it's always on easy display

[QUOTE="Wasdie"]I personally love Vista. It is so much more visually appealing than XP and its easier to navigate.tony2077ca
i hope your joking about the easier to navigate part

what do you mean? Vista is a breeze to navigate with a searchbar in every explorer window, the drop down arrows customisable sidebar favorites and the folder map in the left hand sidebar

I haven't had any problems with it. I'm not running it on recent hardware, and it still runs fine. I've had a few problems here and there (probably because I still haven't installed SP1), but overall it's smooth running.

Dell is ok.

HP is crap.

Custom Build is the way to go.

Yeah the requirements on the box are misleading.

Vista uses over 500MB when its idle!

I reccomend you have at least 2GB of ram.

compatibibility mode is pretty much pointless TBH, if you want old games to work there's a couple of .dll you have to copy and rename, old games should work the problem is is with vista they moved things around and changed the names

i myself prefer vista, especially now as the compatability is fine and i have a computer capable of running it without problems. I also get DX10 and the nice vista themes. I can see why people stick with xp, and if i had a laptop, i would remove vista and install xp on it.

you buty dell and you go to hell...

basically it's an old thing from when they used propriatory motherboards and sometimes used BTX which basically rendered your pc unupgradeable

Meh i am forced to use vista (it came with the laptop) but to be honest after a while it isnt as bad as some say it is.

The flashiness is not needed but it looks nice i guess.

Still prefer XP abit...

I love it, not found a thing wrong with it yet. It's a lot more secure than XP was, more user-friendly, boot up and shut down times are a lot faster and simpler.

I didn't like it much at all when it came on my laptop. I've since put it on my desktop and now that I've used it for awhile I think it's fine. I really tried keeping the UAC on, but I just couldn't do it. I had to turn it off to maintain my sanity. Vista is a much better experience without it.
