Well, we all know who'd surrender first that's for sure.lonewolf604

No one seems to remember World War I, and they seem to greatly underestimate the sheer carnage and rout that was the 1941 Battle of France. Don't forget that they had substantial British help as well, and even that wasn't enough.

[QUOTE="Franko_3"]I wonder where this "France alway surrender" myth come from. Zyamaman

United States, naturally...

WW2...... not really the US. Anyway, I'd say out of those the UK would win simply because they aren't on the mainland and have the second most powerful navy/airforce in the world.

france would lose and the germans and english would carve up france and shake hands over beer and tea.surrealnumber5
What he said...the French would surrender at the first sign of a fight and us (the UK) would share France with our German pals. If there's one thing a lot of people in the Uk have in common with Germans, it's hatred of the French ahaha j/k ?!

The copious amount of overbearing comments, left by uninformed children with a poor grasp of recent historical events, and a rather... cartoonish understanding of modern warfare (undoubtedly instilled by badly-written video games) make it really difficult to argue this particular point on this board, doesn't it?

Considering France and the UK recently signed a new military alliance to share capabilities, the fact that they both make up almost half of all EU military strength, and Germany's relatively low Defence spending, it would not doubt be a toss up between the UK and France.

Most likely would end in a stalemate. They'd block off the Channel and just sit and watch each other considering neither realistically has the capability to launch a full scale invasion. Even if the UK launched the garrison it has in Germany and the Falklands, that probably wouldn't do any meaningful damage.

So many people saying France would fall easily, and Germany would win lol, you guys should look at the modern day militaries of these countries.

France and the UK are in their own league here. The German Army is comparable in some aspects, but no quite up to par. and their navy and air force doesn't stack up with the other two.

it should be like this France>UK> Germany. I'd put the UK as about equal, even a bit ahead due to the natural defense. But the way the British military has been gutted lately, they have been knocked down a notch.

After WW2 Germany's army has been really limited, so they'd need time to build up a capable army.If France capitalizes on that they could win. If Germany digs in, and the war drags on I think they could eventually come back and defeat France because of the larger population, and greater manufacturing base. Germany also has the best tanks in the world right now.

I don't think Britain could mount a succesful invasion of continental Europe so, other than air skirmishes, I think Britain would be isolated most of the war.

And if either France beats Germany, or Germany holds out and defeats France, UK loses eventually in both cases. France and Germany combined would just wear the UK down.

So, I'd put my money on Germany out of the 3.

This is assuming no outside support, except importing natural resources, otherwise France and Germany would both be screwed because they have no oil!

Germany and France would lose, because they drive on the wrong side of the road. Seriously though, without doing some extensive military research I couldn't possibly begin to come up with a sensible answer.

Germany would fall first, because Merkel would continuously declare how her contry was "against any form of violence" and force the Bundeswehr to not engage.

Gamers don't know anything about geopolitics, stop watching movies and do not take ww2 as what would happen today... Either France or UK would win against Germany, no one knows who would win between France and UK, they are about the same, any military analist would tell you this, everyone agrees they both have the 2 strongrest militaries in Europe. Germany potentially could become the n1 army, but for political reasons they chose not to. As of today and in the forseable 10-15 years, France and UK will remain the main military powers of Europe, If you disagree with this, go do a little ressearch, because you have no clue of what you are talking about.

Germany have become the biggest economic and social power on the Continental US... although I am not sure how large their military is...

I would say England, although my knowledge is limited...

Haha, in fairness we do seem to see them that way.

We aren't overly fond of the French anyway. The times when we were tight with the French are long gone, though of course they are still allied.

"We aren't fond of the French" what a great argument you have there to explain why they would loose... Still allied? UK just made military agreements with France. Both countries are the pillars of EU defense... I'm great full US, UK and French soldiers show much more respect for each other than some of their respective civilians hiding behind their computers.

To be fairFrance was better equipped and could master more divisions than Germanyat the start of WW2 too. If the Reich wouldn't have employed Blitzkrieg and Guderian's panzer tactics the invasion of France would have lasted a lot more, if not failed tout court.

France was ultimately defeated through their own arrogance and fatal tactical decisions. Hitler divided his army into 3 groups. one would appear to be attacking the Maginot line whose true purpose was to hold up as many allied soldiers as possible, Another would provide a distraction by violating the neutrality of Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg and the third would move through the Ardennes Forest to the north of the Maginot line. The allies focused almost their entire force to holding the Maginot line and attacking the army group moving through Holland and Belgium which left the Army group passing through the Ardennes Forest almost completely unopposed. This was partly due to the belief that the Ardennes Forest would be impenetrable, which was clearly wrong as Hitler managed to get 50 Infantry and 7 Panzer tank divisions through and stormed France over a completely unprotected border. After being totally surrounded the French had very little choice but to surrender or face massive casualties in an un-winnable battle and the rest of the allies and the BEF retreated to Dunkirk and then back to Britain.

People are forgetting that Germany STILL has tons of military restraints made by the EU. They're military funding is less than the UK's just due to European Law... and seeing as how the numbers in the army is larger, this founding is spread thinly. This isn't a fair war. UK would have the upper hand on so many level. (Funding, Island nation, great defenses due to being an island, RAF)
