I haven't seen Wolverine yet (and probably won't until next week) but I've noticed that the critics have given it harsh reviews (39% on Rotten Tomatoes, 2 stars out of 4 from Roger Ebert, C- from Dave White on Movies.com, who loves action flicks and almost always praises them with at least a B+).

Just so you know I've been anticipating and hyping this for over half a year now, and it all comes down to this: surprisingly lame reviews from critics, and even worse, a pirated version of the movie (full length and perfect quality) leaked online, which is unbelievable. I'm still going to see it, that's for sure, but it's still disappointing and rather depressing for me to see such tragedies happen to a movie I care about.

Anyone else wish to share their thoughts on the subject, including whether they're still going to see it or not?

Don't believe the hype? :| I usually just go to see the film to enjoy it and ignore reviews.

It always looked like crap, and after the other X-Men movies I can't say I'm surprised at all. Had the reviews been good I might have rented it on a boring day, but now I know I won't have to.

I'm not surprised at all. I've always thought it looked awful. Perhaps it's because I don't like Wolverine, but it just looks really lame.

Shoot-first = It got great reviews, and it was awesome. :|

I think I've found the answer to your question: if a critic thinks a movie is bad, he'll give it a bad review. Now, I know this sounds crazy, and it will undoubtedly be a controversial hypothesis, but I really think I'm onto something here.

I never listen to film critics, most of them only enjoy films made before 1950 anyway.

You know the music snobs on OT? that's what a film crtitic is. They are the gods that keep puffing on and on about metal while we jump around saying Linkin Park is kewl.

Lol, I know, I have this problem. Unless it's considered tr00, you can't be considered as an equal or whatever. I have this problem with my two favourite bands.

what i don't get is, when watching the trailer, how could any sane person actually expect this to be a real, high-quality film, let alone a critical success? The only part that actually looked interesting was the opening montage of Wolverine in WWII and such, and that's probably just a couple of minutes in the film. I mean, from the reviews that i've red, Liev Schreiber's Sabretooth is the best thing in the film....which doesn't bode well, considering how the guy look NOTHING like Sabretooth and frankly, looks ridiculous to the point of comedy.

Hot damn, you're cool. The Academy Awards often don't give the awards to the film that's most deserving, but more often than not, you'll find very deserving films among the nominees.

Star Trek has beaten it big time lol. When your film hasn't been released yet but is still beaten on tickets by a film out a week later you must have messed up that film big time.

100% at Rotten Tomato's. It's actually getting better reviews from casual's than Trekkies to be honest. I don't like it too much and I'm a hardcore fan but I know people who are interested in it yet haven't seen a single episode.

The reason Star Trek is 100% is because there are only 17 reviews.

I have seen it and it was a good film the story was a bit under developed (especially right at the verybeggining) but the action was slick and it had plenty of different mutants fans will enjoy seeing. Not the greatest film but better than Last Stand was and we got to see Wolverine happy for a while which was nice.

I've heard that there's a lot of talking, the action doesn't really start until halfway into the movie, and there's hardly any explosions. Which is a problem when you're trying to make a movie based off of comic book like X-Men.

You want a good story and entertaining event? Read the comics.

Like any comic reader or follower knows, the script for these films suck hardcore because they only include basic elements and names to get people to watch it, while hardly keeping any of the facts. Which is lame, because thats how the comics got popular in the first place.

And I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but the ending alone warrants a big fat "STUPID". Much like the whole film actually.

I'm a big fan of the comics and the X-Men in particular, and after seeing the movie I have to say that the negative press is really just hype. The movie was actually really good, while not on par with say The Dark Knight, it's as least as good as say Iron Man, and X2 and certainly does things better then The Last Stand. They did change things from the comics, but for the most part it stays true to the spirit of comics stories. I think that changes when adapting from one form of media to another are always going to happen. As for the negative press I think primarily it's coming from professional Movie critics whom, in my opinion anyway, have always had a thing against comic based movies. Furthermore as a movie Critic your expected to be critical, as a result almost all critics are highly conservative when it comes to giving a movie a good review. If you recommend a movie as being four stars and many of the people who go to see it feel it's not as good your going to loose your audience, however if you slam a movie people are less likely to go see it and will never realize that you were wrong. Those who do go to see it obviously didn't hold your opinion in high regard anyway so there you have it.

In the end I would recommend you see the movie before passing judgement, but don't just say it sucks because that's what all the critics are saying.

I cannot see how it "stays true to comics' when in a 30 second tv trailer I saw five(count them FIVE) continuity errors. Ill stick with the comics thank you.

Blob. Deadpool and gambit. his weapon X training coinciding with Cyclops. I do not really feel like getting deeper but i do know what I am talking about. And wheher he agrees with me or not on the movies worth I bet Xaos would back me on the continuity issues.

I think you should watch the movie before you judge it from a trailer thats all I can tell you because I don't want to spoil anything for you for the sake of explanation, the movie is great and I think you won't be disappointed.

As each new trailer/poster/clip/advertisement was released the film seemed to look worse and worse. I may go see it this weekend with friends, but Id rather go see State of Play again.

[QUOTE="mattykovax"][QUOTE="HAZE-Unit"] What errors? HAZE-Unit

Its not the movie I am judging. Its all the years of continuity I refuse to throw out for and hour and a halfs worth of enjoyment. I never said the movie was bad;) I said I do not want to get mad at it,especially if ist good because I have four decades of stories that it ignores behind me.

As a big x-men nerd, I went in with low hopes, and thought it was decent.
