The last time they changed leadership and made only a movie, we got The Wrath of Khan, and JJ Abrams looks like he's made a great film here.

Well, to be fair, JJ Abrams hasn't made a good movie or television show... ever. So, I'm more than a little skeptical about Star Trek.

Then as someone who liked Alias and Mission Impossible III, I guess we'll just have to part on opinions here.

I forgot he directed MI:III (which I actually enjoyed), but that doesn't quite make up for some of the absolute train-wrecks he's responsible for.

Well if you're gonna keep pushing this... what are the "train-wrecks"?

I've never been much of a Star Trek fan, but I'll probably see it. It looks good.

I'd do it, just to see Sylar as Spock. Heck, I'd half expect him to cut open somebodies head halfway through the movie.

I'm definitely going to see it...I've loved Star Trek since Next Gen (not a big fan of the Kirk series only because of William Shatner)...loved Voyager as well and all but the first and the fifth movies. So...can't wait!!

I'll wait for it to come out on DVD/Blu-ray. That way I'll know what others think of it.

Well if you're gonna keep pushing this... what are the "train-wrecks"?

Lost, Fringe, and Cloverfield immediately spring to mind.

I've watched some Alias, but not enough to make an actual informed opinion.

The problem with Abrams is, that, while he has some good ideas on a conceptual level, it's obvious that he himself has no idea where his plots are headed. Perhaps I was too harsh when I said earlier that JJ Abrams hadn't created anything good. He's not the worst person to have helming a project in Hollywood, but when you feel absolutely robbed after viewing some of creations, you can't help but be apprehensive about his future work.
