If Jesus was so smart why couldn't he figure out a way to absolve man of his sins without dying? I'm sure even Einstein could have thought of something.

*biased atheist alert, biased atheist alert* He was born like a lamb, he had the title of "The Lamb of God", he was sacrificed like a lamb. Its a lot more to it, and its alot to explain. And plus he is GOD! If he could have 5 loaves of bread and a couple of fish and he had to feed 5 thousand people hewould have to be smart. He wanted to show he would do anything for his children. Just defending myself from people who bash my beliefs. Im not bashing you beliefs.
Still, can you really call him the smartest person in history? Firstly, he never shows great intelligence in the Bible. He showed great compassion and leadership, but he wasn't doing differential equations in his head.
Secondly, he's God according to Christians. I don't think God is included in person.
If you don't want to consider him "smart" then you certainly can consider him wise.My first choice goes to Jesus (as stated, being God gives him an advantage), second goes to King Solomon. I'm basing this on wisdom, not scientific prowess. Solomon is considered by some to be one of the first great philosophers. His books Proverbs and Ecclesiastes certainly certainly show philosophical thinking (though, some try to argue some proverbs in the book of Proverbs were already well known in that day).
Outside of these two, many people come to mind but I'm too lazy to list them all. :P

Galileo. He confirmed that we revolve around the sun. Despite what the Catholic Church was feeding the masses.
hyrueprince11
I totally disagree with that compared with einstein, newton and da vinci, galileo is nothing
Surely you jest? Galileo was a ****ing genius.
hmmmm, probably the top 5 in my list are Da Vinci, because he came up with the first schematics of an air transportation vehicle, Isaac Newton, who discovered the laws of physics, Albert Einstein because, welll we all know why =), Galileo, who discovered a lot about space, and.....God =) because he knows everything that goes on because he kind of made us, lol. I'm the top 10 smartest in my school at least. I'm probably the 7th smartest. Not joking, 8th grade, taking 10th grade math and science. Acing it =)

*also a biased atheist alert* Dude, Jesus knows everything and so does his father (talking to the guy you quoted who quoted that guy). Who do you think made us and made everything that happens int he universe.(hope I'm not being offensive). Soyah, Jesus is the smartest, and he died for our sins because, well, he had no choice, everyone in the city hated him for....just read theBible.
By the way, I'll join your Christian Union. I'm Catholic all the way!!! =) Go Rome!
This. Honorable mentions would be Newton, Einstein, Bohr, Kepler and others.Easy Michio Kaku.

I would say that Kaku is smart, but not the smartest. I mean, Newton created calculus, without it, there wouldn't even be QFT.
IMHO, Da Vinci shouldn't even be compared, he was a great artist , a thinker or an anatomist, but to say that he's one of the greatest mathematicians or scientists is quite a stretch. Somehow, some of his polymath attributes are exaggerated, his contributions were minimal as compared to many scientists.
In terms of Mathematics, Euler and Gauss is somewhere up there.
For Physics, I would said Einstein, Bohr , Witten and many other scientists. Somehow, there's just too many brilliant minds in history, and the term "smart" or "intelligent" itself is pretty subjective.
Then again, there's also Alhazen.
Im going to be different here and say Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus, over two thousand years ago he gave us the foundations of our modern civilisations to this day.
This is relative.
In my opinion though it's Einstein. When he came up with the theory of special relativity, nobody understood it, only himself. Only long after his death it became clearer.
It depends, I'd say Aristotle. He thought from the ground up, rejecting the mystic teachings of Plato and his contemporaries, using logic and reason, acknowledging existence as existing and so on laying the intellectual foundation (axioms) of all rational thinking.... and his work still stands today even in contrast of blissfully ignorant idealist teachings of today which most sheep cling to.
You could just as easily say Sir Isaac Newton, Nikola Tesla, Richard Feynman, Einstein etc... Out of them I'd say Isaac Newton without question.
DaVinci, read the first sentence of his wiki page and then you'll understand.Im_singlelmao, that is ridiculous
