What I'm more interested in is why people obses over the fact that it's anime. Why not give disney movies the same kind of love? Outgrown them? To old maybe? Yes, some anime are good, but I guess some are horrible too. Why is it so highly regarded?

But i do love disney movies.  Im 15 and got the DVD of alice in Wonderland for Chrsitmas, I had really been wanting it to.

Hmmm, I've come to the conclusion that there are a bunch of geeks in japan who dresses up as disney character, and talk about disney movies and series online. Deep discussions. They also fap to disney porn. Atleast most of them.

i love anime, i just don't like alot of the extremely cliche animes like Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach (although i did enjoy bleach for a while). i just don't have time for 300 episode series, and 100 episodes of fillers:lol:

It's to kiddy? So anime is mature cartoons for you? What about the simpsons, Metacolypse, South Park, The Boondocks and Futurama? Don't see much discussion of them.

Yeah, I think some people can go overboard sometimes. I love watching anime, but not enough to get me to dress up like an anime character.

The Simpsons used to be great and I used to make a point to watch every episode of it I could. The reason you don't see much discussion of it is because the series died horribly many years ago. The new episodes are widely regarded as a huge step down from the older seasons.

I've seen a little of Metacolypse, but didn't enjoy it at all. Other than the little I've seen, I know nothing of it and can't really make an argument concerning it.

I'm not the biggest fan of South Park, but it does have some interesting ideas from time to time. I'm just not a fan of that forbidden>

Yay for glitchspot ruining yet another of my posts! Well, to summarize:

Simpsons - Used to be good, now sucks.
Metacolypse - Seen a little, didn't like, haven't heard much about it apart from that.
South Park - Some decent ideas, but most of the humor in it isn't my thing.
Boondocks - Awesome series. Hope to see more American series like it in the future.
Futurama - Another excellent series that still gets attention, though it did die several years ago.

You guys should watch Death Note..it doesn't follow the typical anime stereotypes.

I like anime because it is a genre in wich the most weird ideas and stories can happen freely and the genre encourages that, I'm into animation and good stories with good story telling, people don't seem to like it because it's to bizarre and maybe too colorful. Since the stories in anime are soo bizarre and nothing is what people are used to seeing in sitcoms or in Grey's Anatomy it's more than reasonble for the USA audience to have such an aversion towards anime. I started into anime mainly because the voiceovers that are made for latin america specially for the spanish speaking countries have such a great quallity these people take their business seriously and the characters sound "believeble" and you don't get a stomach ache when listening to them unlike the english voiceovers those are damn bad, the same thing with the Spain voiceover wich they suck.

Just a guess; anime is something fairly new to the u.s. that has been introduced to main stream culture, and becouse of U.S. general closemindedness to new things it naturally gets attacked usually as nothing more than a mindless mob mentality which jumps on the whole "I hate ____" bandwagon.......this is true of other things as well, the gaming "community" just takes greater notice of this becouse more people like it than the general populus.....

i dont get something...anime is made by japanese...asian people have smaller eyes. yet, most anime characters have eyes that look like this -> 0 its pretty much how anime looks and most scripts are so retarded that they make me feel like my IQ drops several dozen points every time.

I watched Anime before the internet boom. The times when you had to buy 2 episodes on a vhs tape.
Lately anime has become so repetetive...
Everytime it's the same old story. A young student who finds his/her hidden power. The same old comedy. A guy touches a girl, she gets mad like hell and smashes him into space with a big bat or something similar. BOORING.
The only animes i would call brilliant are Berserk, Hunter X Hunter and Record of Lodoss War. Death Note has it's moments but my score got lowered because of the annoying blonde girl.

Same, I like Anime but to be honest I'm usually disappointed since I'm subconciously trying to find something to ultimately replace Dragonball Z's fighting scenes, which has left me with unreasonably high standards (much higher than the best DBZ fights).

As long as a show has a good story or plot, regardless if its animated or not, I'll enjoy it. I think to some people, if it's animated it must be for kids. The majority of anime is targeted towards teens...most of them corny. I think someone covered the cheesyness....boy finds magic power, pilots giant mecha, is a ninja... The majority, not all of it. I can't understand why people like Naruto. I mean come on...it's like they never even tried to find a good story. I blame dubs for the anime hate. Really. I can't stand the Evangelion Dub. They're going to ruin Haruhi Suzumiya. The only decent dub I've seen was Gundam Seed. That's it. Bad voice acting....owell atleast they tried. They ussually cut the sexual content out, switch words around, and even sometimes change the skin colour of a character. Yup...that's america. Turn a show into kiddyville. I've watched....several animes so far. I used to think anime was for retards or kids. Then I watched Elfen Lied. Changed my opinion....but not on those damn Otakus.
