well for one, he is 16 or something and acting as if he invented rap, or heck whatever genre of music that is. All it is, is recycling a word a 100 times followed by another word 100 times. If you like music like that, well power to you but please, and i mean please do not try and ask us why we hate soulja boy. I suggest you listen to that "Yahh, trick ya" garbage of a so called song, and come and tell me if he makes any sense or even deserves to make music.
People dislike him because he epitomizes what they dislike about music. They see the music as simplistic trash, and they see it becoming enormously popular while the music they hold dear remains in the shadow. Personally, I could care less about Soulja Boy and what other people choose to listen to. But I will certainly agree with those who hate his music that it is incredibly simplistic and unsophisticated music. That, though, is probably why it's so popular. Simplistic, unsophisticated music is FAR easier for a layman to appreciate. Put a catchy beat with a catchy, memorable tune, and it doesn't matter if there's anything else to the music. Lots of people will probably like it.

I like tons of different music. I just like that crank dat song by soulja boy because it sounds like crunk music, you know like lil jon's type of music. I've always been a fan of lil jon.

That's exactly what most people say. And they're right - if you want to make money with music in a capitalist society, it doesn't have to be 'good' (by that I'm assuming you mean deeper than average with respect to artistic merit). People just have to like it so that they'll be willing to pay for it. So obviously, the industry will focus on the production of music that the most people will like.
It's one of the main reasons I've always felt that capitalism and music are a pretty poor match for each other, at least if you're talking about the production of sophisticated art.

It's not that I hate the fact that people hate him, I just hate the fact that people hate him and yet they listen to very much the equivalent of his music, albeit in other genres.
