People dislike him because he epitomizes what they dislike about music. They see the music as simplistic trash, and they see it becoming enormously popular while the music they hold dear remains in the shadow. Personally, I could care less about Soulja Boy and what other people choose to listen to. But I will certainly agree with those who hate his music that it is incredibly simplistic and unsophisticated music. That, though, is probably why it's so popular. Simplistic, unsophisticated music is FAR easier for a layman to appreciate. Put a catchy beat with a catchy, memorable tune, and it doesn't matter if there's anything else to the music. Lots of people will probably like it.pianist
I like tons of different music.
I just like that crank dat song by soulja boy because it sounds like crunk music, you know like lil jon's type of music.
I've always been a fan of lil jon.
The girl on the train is good enough reason to hate him. + He has terrible music.

just because his music is whack, and I would imagine he probably thinks iof himself as a true great hip-hop/rap artist.
what the hell kind of song is "Crank Dat" - "Yah trick Yah". The producers that sign him up are just as bad for putting him on record, but to me, it's more than just Soulja Boy. Lil Wayne - Plies - Ne Yo etc, all this new music is just whack.
People say, "it doesnt have to be good, just catchy". Looking at the music industry closely, it's almost s if that is the new standard.

That's exactly what most people say. And they're right - if you want to make money with music in a capitalist society, it doesn't have to be 'good' (by that I'm assuming you mean deeper than average with respect to artistic merit). People just have to like it so that they'll be willing to pay for it. So obviously, the industry will focus on the production of music that the most people will like.
It's one of the main reasons I've always felt that capitalism and music are a pretty poor match for each other, at least if you're talking about the production of sophisticated art.
cause people be hatin...just look at chingy...most amazing artist arguably of our generation, and people just hate...what're ya gonna dojohnnyv2003

I don't get why he is so hated. I think crank dat, is a pretty good song.
Of course it's not like hardcore rap or something, but it's still a good song.
So why all the hate on him??
He never killed hip hop by the way, no one can kill a whole music genre.

this. He dosn't rap well... But it is catchy I like his songs... But it just isn't original...
It's not that I hate the fact that people hate him, I just hate the fact that people hate him and yet they listen to very much the equivalent of his music, albeit in other genres.
