There are a few big hypocrytical points we gotta point out about Europe.

  • For us entering WWII "late", you're to blame for the whole genesis of the war because you didn't keep an eye on Germany after WWI, then as the war broke out, you eventually used us as a scapegoat.
  • Europe is not united as you make it out to be. There is no common language, loosely connected cultures, no common constitution, a handful of countries that joined in the past decade, very varying per capita incomes and crime rates, etc. Just because you wound up a few countries in a few ways doesn't give you the go signal to say all your achievements where this collective effort...

Yeah sure. However, that doesn't justify the way the military's been implemented in recent years. or the fact that the United States has a larger military expenditure than the European Union (population=495 million)espoac

A lot of the expenditures is r & d. I'd rather spend the money on the military than the arts.

I don't brag about my country being better than yours, but ya know there are some countries who don't have freedom alright and the U.S is here to help change that. Sure some, if not most of our ideals are crazy, psychaotic, if not pointless, we still try our best to get farther.I really love it when people who have never really lived in the country that they're ripping on decide to just make fin of it without knowing very much. As for the guns thing... yeah man whatever.

Oh please, no nation has that much freedom, you HAVE to help the poor, you HAVE to not pay for sex, you HAVE to not snort cocaine, off course, if you agree with these laws, that's fine, but if 0 meant no freedom, and 100 was absolute freedom, American wouldn't be a perfect example, nor would any other nation, it'd just be a better example, than a lot of others, in the 80s or 90s, B or A, not PERFECTION. Justa better score than a lot of other countries. But there's also a lot of other countries that are up there with the USA.

it's a figure of speech. Of course you can't do ANYTHING you want it's morally impossible and literally too. Why? No one has the capacity to kill someone, have sex, snort drugs, do whatever they want, people want direction in their lives no matter what anyone says. You can't be free technically, which goes without saying that we can do a lot of what other people can't. As for morally, do you see yourself doing drugs every signle day for your entire life, without having to do anything? There are natural laws that humans must follow, and doing things that we preceive as fun everyday just can't be done.

You're right, laws are here for a reason. I just took your statement very literally. But yes, Cartoon Wars Part II and the latest Easter Episode of South Park prove that we can say quite a bit, and the stuff that is worse than Tub Girl shows that we can do quite a bit...

Nobody used the US a scapegoat in WW2.

No-one claims that the EU is like the US states.

Got no idea what you're on about.

I was agreeing with you. What do you mean by pushing buttons? I know my examples were a little weird(The tubgirl one in particular), but I was actually serious, the fact that we can do lots of weird ****, shows that we can do a lot of stuff regardless of what others think, unlike some countries where you're not even ALLOWED to show Muhammad, here, we can not only show Jesus, but do a lot more than that, even though it's offensive, they allow us to do it...

Whatever, just because I'm not Anti-American doesn't mean I love America. I actually would move to Holland if I could afford it, it looks exciting, a good change. Please, don't make the assumption that just because I share a positive thing, that it means I'm some crazy nationalist. I don't even celebrate the 4th of July.

Well actually because the EU is a conglomerate of separate countries you'd think their combined spending would be higher, especially considering their population(yet ours was 250 billion euros more in 2006). This whole "super power" thing shows how messed up our priorities are. We're the richest country in the world yet we have a health care system ranked behind second rate countries like France and Singapore and we can barely educate our kids. We need to straighten our own country out first before we go police the world.

America is not the best country in the world, I dont think any country can realy take that title. I also think that people who go out of their way to be (patriotic) are somewhat mistaken. But americas greatness and positions amongst its peers cannot be denied. This is a great country and is a leading influence in todays world. Sure we have had some mishaps, Especialy lately with that moron in the white house.. but that can be fixed.... America is a world leader in important fields like economics , Industry, and Military might. Its a great place to live in and many freedoms can be enjoyed here just like alot of other countries around the world. Its a country rich in resources and with plenty of oportunities for those of its citizens that are smart enough to take advantage of them. Thats not to say It doesnt have its faults, many of which draw resentment and hate from people in other countries especialy those less fortunate ones.

America is a great country, but it is eroding thanx to a combination of factors...mostly due to 1) President currently in office

2) Misguided youths not giving a @#%% about their education and futures

3) OVEREXPANDED CAPITALISM/consumerism.....it seems our corporations have finaly started working against the people...looking for ways to squeeze every last cent out of us. Outsourcing jobs..cause its cheaper to build and assemble thing out of the us ...ITS PROFITT AT ANY EXPENSE>>>>>>>>>>>>>

4)The whole bling n rehabculture..way too much enphasis on how much the clothes you wear cost what brands you wear, Being fashionable...we get this influence pushed down our throats constantly...MTV magazines, TV in general, Reality TV..Its all GARBAGE but our younger generations seem tothrive off of it....Its rotting our brains,,,

The space program pointless? Eh, good thing the advancment of the human race isn't up to you, mate. If the space program was pointless then every archaelogical achievment was pointless, AND every discovery made concerning animal life.

[QUOTE="espoac"]]And I'm sure they'd all object strongly to extra federal funding :roll:LJS9502_basic

They get funding...they don't use it wisely plus discipline is hard to maintain since parents want to sue for every little thing.

Don't get me started on the reforms that I think should be made in Education. But I think we can agree that if the system was improved, it'd be much better to spend money on education than to pump more money into the military. I don't think we'd be vulnerable if we reduced are military expenditure a bit.

I think that's a bit of an overstatement. I really don't see that many people influenced by the crap on television. They watch reality TV for entertainment, and nothing more.

Errr... Maybe I missed the point, but I wanted to feel smart by saying something. :P

Well the thing with out military, is yes, stupid. I feel we have had this mentality that the more the military spending, the less terrorists and enemies would want to attack us. But the truth is that's the exact opposite. If we don't spend nearly as much on the military, no one would have reasons to attack us and won't feel threatened (even if they had misconceptions). It was kind of shocking really that Rudy Guilliani recently said something like "if we keep spending on the military, rogue countries like China and Russia won't want to risk attacking us". So yeah I have to agree so many of our leaders are dillusional with foreign policy.

I think that is funny because when i come on to this website i see alot of non americans saying americansthink they are betterbut i never see it the other way around. I bet the average american is no different than anyoneyou know. Also i think having the people armed is a good way of defending a country. If a country tried to take an armed nation over do you think it would be easier or harder than some country that only has its army to protect it? Sure it may increase gun crimes but if you live in a decent area you won't have to worry about it.

Its..not really a BAD place per say, but the thing is that people don't want to learn about the outside world to see if theres better ways of doing things and from near birth there are politicians, teachers, and other authority figures echoing without any kind of justification, "The United States is the greatest country in the world!" its like a massive nation-wide groupthink going on..

I think the point of the military is more along the lines of If we keep spending money on the military, rogue countries like china will get wtfpwned if they attack us.

On a serious note, the only thing I consider better about America is our military. Regardless, America is a great place to live and doesn't deserve kids going on about the military being "bad", americans being cockyand whatnot, because in today's cuthroat war a military is a necessary thing. America just goes above and beyond. Our systems are bad, but where theres a will theres a reform.

To the Tc: You may try asking in a nicer manner, instead of bluntly generalizing all the Americans as Patriotic extermists.

You could at least say thanks for liberating your country first.

I've been all over the world, and I can honestly say there is no place in the world I would rather live.

I live in America and I am not proud of it. This country is primarily composed of hypocrites and perverts. And way too much money is spent on the stupid military. America is extremely violent and has the most drug abuse and drugs aren't even legal.Mutatedbloodelf

I don't think the majority of us do. I just spent the past 2 years in England, and I learned a lot. I think every country has something to offer, philosophically speaking. (sorry is philosophically isn't a word, it sounds good though)

I dont think the United States is better of a country then any other but I live happily in the US I don't think we are any better. In some ways we lack some things that other countries have.
