[QUOTE="nintendorocks"]It's human nature. That's just how we are. We used to be peaceful and didn't take much from the Earth and kept to ourselves. But as numbers grew, we needed more and more and more. And humans just became, like you said, barbaric.MrGeezer
Bull. If you think we weren't killing off opposing tribes when we were only isolated tribes consisting of only a few hundred people, you're out of your mind.
Hell, even TODAY there are still small tribes of "indigenous peoples" who battle each other. Not everyone lives in cities and drives cars. There are still small tribes who live out in the middle of the jungle, and have been fighting the tiny tribe on the other side of the mountain for the last 200 years.
Also, for the most part, humans have NEVER tried to keep to themselves. And even when they have tried to keep to themselves, the primary reason was because they knew they were weak and didn't want to get killed.
When humans have (or think they have) the ability to defend themselves, they do NOT keep to themselves. I'm sure you'll deem this to be a bad example, but a lot of you people are probably still in high school, so it's a familiar example. When it's lunchtime, all you kids get thrown into a big cafeteria. Now, go to the cafeteria and look around. Look and see who is sitting by themselves. Almost without exception, they're going to be scared/unpopular/weak. The ONLY reason they avoid human contact is because they lack confidence.
Same applies on a larger scale. Chameleons are solitary animals. Spiders are solitary animals. Humans are NOT solitary animals. We are social animals. We need human interaction, we rely on human interaction. If you are the leader of a tiny tribe, and you encounter another tiny tribe, the ONLY reason you'll run away is if you think they're gonna kick your asses. If you have any confidence, you'll either flat-out annihilate them or try to barter with them for useful goods. Because kepp in mind that when you're living in a small tribe consisting of 100 people, what's going to happen if you DON'T interact with other tribes? You end up completely losing any kind of genetic diversity. After only a few generations, everyone in the tribe is at least everyone else's first cousin. And to say nothing of the fact that the whole tribe is now basically committe=ing incest and we're getting a larger incidence of birth defects, the smallest disease is gonna wipe out the entire ****ing tribe because there is no genetic diversity within the tribe.
