Must this thread really turn into another pointless religious debate? -_- Darth-Caedus
So do you prefer the old Testament? I'm not that big of a fan either way, but The New World Order is pretty good.

How else will we all increase post count? Religion threads are the best way.

Indeed it has worked for me... :P (unintentionally)

[QUOTE="maheo30"][QUOTE="chessmaster1989"]

If he really does love us and wish us to be with him in heaven, why does he not reveal himself directly to us?

chessmaster1989

Who says He didn't?

Well, nobody's come up to me and revealed himself to be God, so... ;)

Holy Writ teaches that if He did you still wouldn't acknowledge He was God (see John 9,11, Romans 1-3, Eph. 2). Why? let's see,

What is the natural disposition of man toward God?

  • John 3:20 - "For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed."
  • Romans 8:7-8 - the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
  • Colossians 1:21 - you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds
  • James 4:4 - You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Are men at least seeking God?

  • Psalm 10:4 - The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him. All his thoughts are, "There is no God."
  • John 3:20 - "For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed."
  • Isaiah 65:1 - "I permitted Myself to be sought by those who did not ask for Me; I permitted Myself to be found by those who did not seek Me."
  • Isaiah 64:7 - There is no one who calls on Your name, who arouses himself to take hold of You; for You have hidden Your face from us and have delivered us into the power of our iniquities.
  • Romans 3:10-12 - "there is none who seeks for God"

Can the natural man comprehend the gospel or come to saving knowledge of God on his own?

  • 1 Corinthians 2:14 - But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.
  • 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 - our gospel is veiled... to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
  • c.f. Psalm 119:18; Proverbs 4:19; Isaiah 42:6-7; Hosea 14:9; Matthew 16:17; John 8:43; Acts 22:14, 26:18; Ephesians 4:17-19; 2 Corinthians 2:15-16; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4; 1 John 5:20.

Apart from God initiating a work of grace no man can believe. it is impossible for him to accept or even acknowledge God.

Bible quotes are not good evidence considering that one part of the bible doesn't make any sense. At all.

I think there is a God or some sort of creator, but I don't believe anyone has even the remotest idea of who/what it is. That is why I reject any and all religions. I lean more towards a living universe, one that is part of a larger, living thing that reveals itself in the subtleties of nature. And it certainly doesn't involve itself in our lives, judge, reward, or punish. A God would have no use for them, because they are human ideas. To think that humans could even understand their creator is in itself a huge leap of faith. Pun intended.

Yes I dont deny them the right to believe in the Bible.

Theres a difference between "I believe in this and I think its the truth" and "this is the truth beyond any doube; all the rest of you are wrong and my faith is based on facts 100% < *oxymoron*"

Just spend some time here at OT, read some evangelising threads and you'll get what I mean.

Can the natural man comprehend the gospel or come to saving knowledge of God on his own?

1 Corinthians 2:14 - But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 - our gospel is veiled... to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. c.f.

[QUOTE="MotherSuperior"][QUOTE="maheo30"] Holy Writ teaches that if He did you still wouldn't acknowledge He was God (see John 9,11, Romans 1-3, Eph. 2). Why? let's see,

What is the natural disposition of man toward God?

John 3:20 - "For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed." Romans 8:7-8 - the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Colossians 1:21 - you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds James 4:4 - You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Are men at least seeking God?

Psalm 10:4 - The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him. All his thoughts are, "There is no God." John 3:20 - "For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed." Isaiah 65:1 - "I permitted Myself to be sought by those who did not ask for Me; I permitted Myself to be found by those who did not seek Me." Isaiah 64:7 - There is no one who calls on Your name, who arouses himself to take hold of You; for You have hidden Your face from us and have delivered us into the power of our iniquities. Romans 3:10-12 - "there is none who seeks for God"

Can the natural man comprehend the gospel or come to saving knowledge of God on his own?

1 Corinthians 2:14 - But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 - our gospel is veiled... to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. c.f. O rly?

yes something that exists cannot prove itself real, and since real as in exists and the fact of truth are being used the same [equivocation] another fallacy dejustifies that argument in that sense thus his theory is wrong, take that

Well I am not a fundie either (supposedly an fundie atheist, as "some" people have thought I am) but I just predict that I will be facepalming throughout the whole video.... it will make me loose faith in humanity even more. :P (what I just said is an oxymoron for "some" people...)

I don't think there's any sort of intent or reason behind our existence in the universe as we know it. If there is, I don't think we're ever going to find out. I think we're just here, and there's nothing more to it.
