[QUOTE="LiftedHeadshot"]Why? Because they believe in the lie that is Christianity.LiftedHeadshot

that was a rather hollow statement lacking any evidence or argument to back up your arrogance

So I need evidence to disprove religion but religion needs no evidence to have millions blindly following it.

it takes more faith to disbelieve than to believe

People don't fear death because of of two things; accepting that it happens and ignoring the issue, and the belief in life after death. On a sort of side note. Think about when you go to sleep. There is that period of time well you sleep where you don't, feel, hear, see, think, smell, or taste anything. Now image that's what happens when you die, only it never ends. It is frightening because the human mind is incapable of imagining nothing, its terrifying, so much so that we don't think about it, or create a fantasy so as to avoid that fear of nothing.

Oh so it's just Christianity that promotes everlasting life? I thought that deal came with most religions. But I suppose you are accurate, Christianity is the only one that will guarantee you that privilege.

Meh, it happens... just hope I don't get condemned to some zombie apocalypse for eternity or something. What's scary about it is noone knows what happens :O. No reason to cry about it though I'm too busy enjoying my time here.

Eh, at that point it's inevitable. Why fear it?

I'd be more scared to live forever. You're bound to see.... Everything

Isnt that scary that were all gonna die?

I can't speak for anyone else.

But I've already seen well enough that life can suck, and that Death therefore represents Freedom From Suffering.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I am afraid to die.

I don't think about it too often, but it is a scary thought to me.

Knowing the fact that we're all going to die actually makes it easier to accept. Because i know for a fact that no matter what someone does in their life, they're still going to die.

Heres a question:

If you could find out the very minute you die, would want to know?

Idk, good question. My last near death experience, I wasn't afraid at all for some reason, it's like I was completely willing to die. I just stood my ground and looked death straight in the face and thought to myself, "I guess this is the end." I guess life ran out of **** to throw at me.

If I was afraid of the inevitable, I might as well die now because my life would be terrible. I just don't see a reason to fear what I cannot change.

Scary? Isee it as the ultimate challenge.:D To beat death is to win at life and everything. It would be the greatest thing any one has ever done to beat it. I would be proud and honored to try and beat such a challenge. I think its everyones goal in life to try and beat death.

How so? The entire foundation of religion is fear. The idea of Heaven and Hell is merely used to sate the fear of the unknown.

Its moreso the fact that you singled-out Christianity. Idk why there are so many haters of Christianity on these boards. Muslims, maybe?

Oh the irony

I couldn't help myself.

Bah. All i need is money and i can improve my longetivity by 80 years. A LOT of money but still. I'm going to try. Me and my friend actually have a 400$ bet going that he will live longer than me because its really hard to kill him. I would love to try but the law. :(

I don't know if I should fear death or just ignore it. It is hard to think a about a void of nothing but thats just what it is nothing it may hurt at first but in the end there will be not pain or suffering or regret just nothing.

I wouldn't fear the act of being executed so much as the pain I'd feel. Hypotheticals are hard to relate to. If I were to be executed, I'd probably be more regretting the way I was being held prisoner.

It's just something that I don't see a need to think about. If I thought about it all the time, I imagine I could make myself depressed about it; I still don't think I'd be afraid though.

it's easy to say you aren't afraid of death if you've never had to face it.

i've seen enough videos of people dying to know unless they are knocked out or incapacitated in some way that they are freaking out/crying while they die.

there's many many horrible ways to die.

If people are in pain they scream and cry. If I snuck up behind you and slammed a pie in your face, your expression would be one of confusion and suprise. You wouldn't have time to think "Oh man, I'm sure afraid of that pie hitting me." Just because you see someone in pain or showing regret at their death doesn't mean they are afraid of death(though I imagine most people are.)

I've seen my grandafther in the hospital a year before he died. I don't think he was in pain at that particular time when me and my family visited, but he *was* crying.

Well as it's inevitable like you say, there's nothing we can do about it. So I hope that instead of people being scared of death and being all morbid and miserable, they're enjoying life while they can. No one wants to die but as we can't do anything about it we just have to get on with life. You're just going to spend all your time being moody if you're scared of it.

I fail to see how inevitability automatically removes the fear out of something. If I'm being held in a cell and I know I will be tortured to death in an hour, you're damn straight I'm going to be fearful. Death is even worse, as at least with torture you know somewhat of what's going to happen. Death is a complete unknown, and a hell of a lot scarier.

Plantas had the best answer though: death scares those most who are near to it (or actually really realize that it's going to happen). Totally agree.

Most everybody holds a natural fear of inevitable death. I can't imagine a person who doesn't hold some fear towards it. Even a completely religious person who has faith and believes in a God holds doubt in his heart. People naturally fear the unknown and death is the biggest unknown there is. Many people live in denial or put on the face of acceptance and fear, but I believe you put anyone in a situation where they are going to be killed, they will be scared.

True for me as well. The being dead part doesn't bug me, it's really just the dying part. There are WAY to many horrendously effed up and painful ways to go out.

bazillions have already died, so it can't be that bad. Also, what's so scary about death itself? Remember that vast period of time before you ever existed? No? Well that's what death would be like.

Religion is likely a reason why a lot of people don't fear death.
