I really like Batman, the games, the movies, and so on. I would like to start reading the comic books, but there's no way to just start the series from the beginning. In Manga, if you want to start a series, go out and buy Volume #1 and you're set. Or just standard books, start with Volume #1. But you can't do that with comic books. You can't just go out and buy #1 of Batman unless you want to go on ebay and buy the first batman comic ever for a couple hundred dollars..
Why do comic books have to be this way? Why does there have to be a lot of different separate series involving batman. When it would just be easier for to be volume 1, 2, 3, etc. (imo)
I guess in a way, it's sort of a question. Where would I "start" reading from some-what of a beginning on the series standpoint? Where he first becomes batman, or even before then, and then I can continue on through all of it from there.

First of all a subpar condition Detective #27 (1939) or Batman #1 (1940) would probably run you somewhere in the ballpark of $300,000 so if you know of a place to get one for a couple hundred just drop whatever you're doing right now and go get it.
Secondly DC rebooted their entire line less than a year ago so you can get a Batman #1 (2011) up to the newest issue that just came out Wednesday, Batman #11 for like $20. Although to be honest DC did keep much of the old continuity intact for Batman and Green Lantern and started from scratch for everyone else.
All you need to know since the reboot though concerning Batman is that Killing Joke, Year One, Death in the Family and I think Long Halloween are still in continuity as well as Dick Grayson's time as Batman, and that Damian Wayne (Batman's Son) is Robin now, except since Stephanie Brown hasn't been introduced in the reboot yet that makes Damian the fourth Robin instead of fifth.
P.S. - If you don't know anything about the stories I listed above just google them, you can get the basic important points of the stories without wasting money buying them. And there are 5 different Batman series being published right now, but I would suggest just buying Batman.
