What reason did people elect this man to be president again? I don't understand it at all

He has done nothing but ruin and destroy America and fight wars unneccessarily and kill troops for the sake of democracy on a country we couldnt give less of a **** about. Why kill so many innocents over something so stupid.

Civilians are being killed, troops are being killed, America is in recession, but for what reason?

Honestly, why was this man re-elected?

Effective implementation of fear tactics.

It's easy to control people with fear.

You shouldn't change out presidents during a war.

well, all we know is that George Bush's presidency wasnt one of the better terms of presidency. Would J.Kerry have done better? who knows? I still think Bush sucked and I would have hoped for a better president :(

Because the presidential election is about more than just the war in Iraq. There are other things, such as the economy, that factored into it. Blair won re-election and so did John Major of Australia despite their pro-Iraq war stances in countries that did not favor the war.

Also - John Kerry was a horrible candidate that ran an equally horrible campaign. Had the democrats had a stronger candidate, Bush would have lost. Simple as that.

This right here.

And it looks like the liberals of the Dem party are doing the same thing this election that the Rep did in the 2004 election. The Dems have constantly accused McCain and the Republican party of using fear tactics to get votes, but so far this campaign, it has been the Dem party that has played the fear card. Here are 3 examples:
1. McCain=Bush
2. McCain wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years because he's a war monger.
3. The baby Alex commercial. That commerical was fear based. It was aimed toward a mother's fear for her child. What the commercial is insinuating is that McCain is going to reinstate the draft.

Fear is not a positive motivator, but it is an effective strategy.

  • The economy was doing wonderful
  • The dollar wasn't crap
  • Gas prices were around $2.30 a gallon
  • Yeah there was the Iraq war, but many still thought that it would be a success

So as you can see, 2004 was a good year, and Americans didn't have a reason to be upset with GW, other than the war.

I think it's because most of Americans that vote don't pay too much attention to politics in the first place and would rather vote for someone that they would like to have a beer with instead of someone who could do the job competently.

The religious right went to key swing states and bashed gays there in order to win over moderate voters. It worked.

Pretty scummy if you ask me though, it reminds me of how the republican party did the same thing with blacks in '68.

Things George W. Bush has said.

"I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family."

"I hear there's rumors on the Internets that we're going to have a draft."

"You work three jobs? … Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that."

"Rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?"

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."
