because cane sugar has doubled in cost in four months.

No joke.

Part of my job includes making root beer, and four months ago a 50 pound sack cost me 17 dollars...I got some last week and it cast 32 dollars

the sad thing is that this is all beaurocratic bullcrap; there is no way sugar should be that expensive, the soda people just realized that the American people actually prefer cane sugar, and then the corn producers were like "Oh snap!" and did some lobbying.

[QUOTE="KittenNipples"]Blame it on corn. We make everything out of it here, including our crappy fake sugar we put in everything. wstfld
Has anyone seen the documentary, King Corn? Even our protein comes from corn because that's what we feed our livestock.

thats like saying our water comes from urine, cuz urine goes back to the source.

a lot of cultures were based on single crops for millenia, this is nothing new...but I do disagree with how corn has become borderline unnatural in some thing, corn syrup being one of those.

Nothing is wrong about our culture being centered around corn; it is cheap, abundant, easy to grow, and more.

Well livestock eating corn is unnatural, their grazing animals, their suppose to feed on grass and what not, not be eating genetically enhanced super corn..

It's no mystery why cane sugar is getting more expensive. The dollar keeps going down in value, and when that happens the price of commodities, especially commodities we have to import, goes up.

I'm sorry to say when I first tried pepsi throwback a couple months ago I fostered quite an addiction to it. Had to quit cold turkey for fear I would kill myself from the mass of sugar... and I usually drink very little soda. Real sugar for the win! Have to try this fabled Mexican Coke

Well... they could just go back to coca and put the coca back in coca cola. But then they would probably have to import it from colombia.

I like Pepsi over Coke, but I do consent that Mexican Pepsi is better than American as is Coca Cola. Also good is Jones soda Co. Luckily I have a store that carries it, 70 cents for a glass bottle....I think it's a good price.

originally it was imported so Jewish people could adhere to their kosher diet during Passover, places like Costco would always get it in for this, but I think people liked the taste of sugar cane sweetened soda over that terrible high-fructose corn syrup crap so it's still selling and more places carry it now

some local grocery stores here in Chicago and surrounding suburbs have the Mexican Coke bottles for sale along with Mexican restaurants.

Jarritos are second best after Mexican Coke

We use real sugar in our drinks in the UK too. I've tried American drinks and they taste a little weird I must admit.

No one into the Royal Crown Cola? Sure sometimes they taint it with the Vernor'stherefore it ends up tasting like Vernor's (RC Vernor's)but over all it's good stuff.
