Black people take racism so seriously because it is their "out" card. No matter what happens or things get a little tough they pull out the race card and poof they need special treatment. Realistically blacks dont have as much claim to it as they should. Slavery started with black selling their own tribe and family members to European settlers. Native Americans have more claim to race than anythinh due to the fact more was taken from them than anyone, more of them were killed.

Stereotyping an entire race FTMFL.
Because if you know any they have a very good reason to. Screw slavery, they didn't get full rights until the 1960's.btaylor2404Well, what about the vast majority of blacks that were born after 1960? They have the same rights as everyone else. Why is it okay for them to be racist towards white people but they feel it's wrong if it's the other way around? Why does this double standard exist?

Why is it okay for them to be racist towards white people but they feel it's wrong if it's the other way around? Why does this double standard exist? True, and those people are racists. There is no double standard. I live in the south, and they get called out on it when it happens. But I rarely run into those type of people. No one should be racist/bigoted to any race is my point. If so, they need to be called out on it.
Considering that white people are in the vast majority, have never been discriminated against in any meaningful sense, and do not have a history of being enslaved by black people, the double standard seems to make sense to me.GabuEx
This. I agree.

You should come to Japan. The vast majority of the foreigners that complain about "racism" here are white. In fact, there is a foreign activist (white) that tried to say calling a foreigner "gaijin" is like calling a black person the N-bomb. However, when I see them at a bar that caters to gaijin, they see no problem in mocking Japanese mannerisims. Sounds like when you aren't king of your domain that this double standard tends to permeateThe more black people react to racism, the more they are actually supporting it. The word (insert N word here) would have NO power at all if black people would stop giving it power.
The opposite can be said about white people. This is why cracker, honky, peckerwood, and whatever else they can throw at us dont have any power... because we dont let it have any. We don't react to it on purpose so it wont have any effect or splash when black people say it. That's why there is no white equivalent to the N word.
Yet at the same time, so many black people use the N word so much these days you'd think it's going out of style. If you hate a damn word so much then just don't use it you damn hypocrites. Your great great grandparents are most likely looking down on you in disgust every time you say it anyways, so have some respect for the people who fought so you can live a free life.
And no, the American black people of today haven't experienced true racism like they seem to act. They didn't have to go through any hardship to earn this freedom like their grandparents did, yet they still take all the credit for it. If I ever hear another black dude that didn't finish complain about "the man" holding them back I'm going to vomit. If you can't get a job with your 8th grade education, then GET A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA. If you don't like living in the ghetto, then stop bragging about how gangster it is in your songs and just move. Join the army if you don't have money for school and can't find a job, they will pay for your school and guarantee you a job for as long as you want.
They have the same rights and freedoms as any other race(LOL I remember when I used to tell my black friends they could be the president if they wanted and they used to laugh like America is so harsh to them that it could never happen in all of eternity... where are you now >=] lol)
I'm tired of hearing all the excuses to why you're not successful in life and I'm tired of hearing about racism altogether. Racism wouldn't exist if people would just stop talking about it for good and get over it so their children wouldn't pick up on it(yes, racism is a learned thing). All these racial comedians and musicians are doing is just passing racism down to new generations. GOOD JOB GUYS, YOU'RE REALLY HELPING THE CAUSE!
And there's my rant for the day.
First of racist still exist to this day. Second i dont see how that was racist towrds white people. Second racist is not funny nor should you ever joke about it. Imagine if you told a cop you were going to rob a bank but it was a joke. What do you think will happen? fbigent34I would NEVER joke about committing a crime to law enforcement. A little thing called "common sense".
Well they're stupid and are taking things too seriously. And think it's they're right to not be offended in any way. Which is also stupid.joao_22990Must be nice to be such a hard ass and never be offended by anything huh?

A little thing called "common sense". Well That excatly right also the fact that it is agasint the law to be racist to anyone. Slavry is being held beyound your will. that is not racist. those are two diffrent things here. And also people telling me to get over. Why should they when it still happens today? jeeze we just had alot of issues of racist poping up when mccain vs obama was going on.
Must be nice to be such a hard ass and never be offended by anything huh?IVIadHatterWhy yes it is. I'd be offended if it were someone i knew and be 100% sure it wasn't joke. But they can still say it and i can't stop them from expressing their mind.
I can try to change it , though. But what right do i have to do it.
I'm sure it's hard to understand when you're not the one being affected. I don't know what it is like to be black in a predominately white country. Over the years, blacks have dealt with a lot of hardships based on race. I'm sure they have good reasons to feel strongly about it.
Everyone should define themselves through themselves, not from their culture nor one's own race past history.I'm sure it's hard to understand when you're not the one being affected. [QUOTE="Trelaf_TheWise"]You're really delusional if you think words like "cracker" and "honkey" have the same impact as the N-wordManiacc1Thank you. That's exactly right. Yeah, it's not as if we hear it in almost every rap song out there.
Racism isn't just racial slurs thrown around and it is not a bunch of strangers calling random people a bad name. Racism is being discriminated against because the color of your skin and that is a serious issue and it does exist today, maybe you have not experienced it and that's why you think it is stupid to get offended. But it is not a joke. Every race should take it seriously.IVIadHatterCome on, that's not the point of the thread. I know human mind and have seen many cases of stupidity, racism and senseless discrimination. and to some extent, been a target of it.
Problably because until fairly recently it was common and legal to discriminate and segregate against them?
Because the people that discriminated against blacks in the 60 still hold a lot of power today?
I am not saying that, as in your example, reverse discrimination (isnt it just discrimination? ive never understood the "reverse" part) is right but do you have to ask why blacks are so sensitive to racism?

Exactly. Racism is not giving people equal opportunities. For example when white men say that they don't find black women attractive and will not date them, they discriminate against black women by not giving them the same opportunities that white women enjoy. Racism puts people in a low or backward position in society in relation to the other groups and doesn't give them the same opportunities that the other groups enjoy.

Finding black people unattractive is no more racism than finding women unattractive is sexism.
1st: there is racism in the US, some of it is legit, and a lot of it is milked as an excuse, by everyone
2nd: everyone is different, but we all want equality. If we're truly different, how can we ever be the same. Differences are what makes the human race interesting.
3rd: racism is racism. Whether i'm called a white, yellow, red, or black slang name doesn't matter. And, the last time i checked, there isn't a tier of what the name calling no-no's are. So, don't say 'honky' doesn't count.
4th: Obama's victory should prove that no matter what, you should set your goals and go get it; i didn't vote for him, but it proves that there aren't any excuses if you want something bad enough.
inb4 why so srs? I guess most people would take racism seriously if they got exposed to it every day, to a certain degree. I don't see a whole lot of white racist jokes, mostly the racist jokes are about dumb black people.. I'd be pretty pissed if I got made fun of every day for my skin colour..DeihjanI know this is from the first page, but why do you think there a more jokes about dumb black people than there are white people?

lol
that's like saying that male homosexuals are discriminating against women, because the women that they don't find attractive aren't getting a fair shake...............
