To a christian John 3:16 is a very profound statement. "sent his only begoton Son" Why would God care about us enough to do something like that? If you believe in a God who created the universe (and if you have taken much science you would understand exactly what that entails- the whole universe) would love us enough to send his only Son. Sure it doesn't sound like much to you, but for me this is one of the most profound ideas I've ever heard.

Especially atheletes.vStone Cold Steve Austin. Tim Tebow.

John 3:16 (New International Version)
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

How is this even an inspirational quote? So some uber-powerful dude kills his own son, and I am supposed to find this enlightening somehow?

lol, I saw it a few hours ago, too. Anyways, John 3:16 is very meaningful to us. It tells us that God loved the world so much, he gave us Jesus to die for our sins. It's like having a line from a movie being used all the time. It's just memorable and has meaning.

I personally think that if he truly loved us, he would have killed Lucifer and prevented him from becoming the lord of Hell.

Never heard of people flaunting that passage before. Not even here.
