Many smart individuals are of faith and many are not... I am not trying to be smart or anything by saying this I am just curious as to why people call religious people stupid.

I have known quite a few people more intelligent than me and quite a few who are not religious and more intelligent. I try to consider myself of average intelligence but even if I was bellow the average on the intellectual range the fact that religious people I have met are smarter than me does not make them the blithering idiots that some make them out to be.

To me faith is just that an indication of ones faith for the most part... Religion gets alot of flack but without religion there might as well be fighting over plenty of other things/ideas (resources and idelogy like communism).

Because they are generalizing and thus unwittingly indicating their own level of intelligence.

Not everyone is an idiot, but when they follow it so blindly and disregard everything else....I think that makes them an idiot.

When people believe something based on nothing and are very open about it, it's easy to create those generalizations.

The general idea is that they follow something which cannot be touched through any scientific method.

You believe because you are told to. There is no logic or reasoning behind that. And because of the ever increasing success the scientific method and research have, believing in something simply because you are told to is irrational and feels like a sore thumb.

i'd argue that those who don't follow a religion are just as stupid because they themselves blindly follow incomplete theories.

Those theories work and are based on the idea that they try to be the least incorrect as possible. Scientists are bound to make errors.

Religion, not so much. Especially christianity.

It's not really a comparison. I won't judge anyone by his religion but trying to make logic comparisons is just wrong. Like, completely wrong.

It makes tons of sense if you care to open yourself to it. Tell me why would a god create millions of bare planets and bare space outside of Earth if his only intention was to populate and take care of Earth? Just one of the many things that religion doesn't really have an answer for.

Agreed imo there are 3 types of Christians

1) The stupidd types who were just force fed their believes and ignore hateful parts of the Bibles

2) The enabler beta apologizers

3) The leader, evil and alpha males

TC is an apologist/propagandist beta christian which is the worst kind imo. Without people like the topic creator defending people using religion to manipulate people into evil there would not be so much blood shed.

Hopefully as more people get eduacated that religion dies out and those using it to serve their nefarious needs fail to do so.

Dude what? If you're not intelligent enough to comprehend scientific research, please don't act as if it's just bunch of people in lab coats pulling baloney out their ass all day. That's just insulting.

Not at all true, how can you prove this for a fact... I know plenty lacking in intelligence who claim it, TC seems like an example. Many lacking in intelligence join religions to bask in their ignorance.

Happyness is bliss.

No evidence to back up their theory, blindly believing in something is not usually the sign of an intelligent person. When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called a Religion." ― Robert M. Pirsig

I believe in God because of things that happened to me in the past, not because that was how I was raised. Though most my family is Christian, my brother and I came to terms with our faith on our own.

It has pretty good evidence supporting it's theory though... I know bigots like you and the topic creator like to ignore that in your analysis though.

I mean if you ask enough whys you could question anythings validity... The fact is that even if the big bang is not true the fossil records show the Earth much older than the Bible claims and evolutionary records are present.

I bet you and the TC believe satan made fossils though right?

Because they are insecure about their intelligence.

How subtle.

My Grandfather is a pretty religious man, he's read more books that I've read words, and he's at the very least the wisest man I've ever met. Being religious doesn't mean your stupid, hell I'm the first one to say those people are even more supid for not really getting the POINT of religion. That's not to say that there aren't religious people who don't get the point of religion. There's plenty of those too. And they're all morons. Because I'm insecure of my intelligence.

We cool? We cool :P

I just assume everyone is an idiot before I get to know them. So far, the assumption has worked rather well.
