Why do people do drugs?

Who ever said any thing about teenagers? I am in high school still so well ya. But so far every person who I know has taken drugs has taken them to look cool. Personally I don't think drugs is a path you want to go down, I am only in grade ten and have already seen my far share of people losing every thing to them.TrailorParkBoy

Why do people smoke pot,do meth,etc.? It's sad to look around my classroom in my Highschool and see more than 75% of these kids will never make it or be successful, in the future cause they do things like drugs,or just dont give a crap about school. It's sad that in the future our society is going to need more smarter people cause stupid people won't wake up and smell the coffee. >_>MrLions

Just as an example, Carl Sagan is known to have done drugs all through his professional career, and I'd hesitate to call him more of an idiot than, let's say, YOU OR ME.

You know, I'm just throwing that out there. I doubt that doing drugs made Carl Sagan smarter than he would have been if he had been drug free, but I really fail to see how it made him an "idiot".

Yes, a rare few will be the "leaders" of the morons. Drug takers or not, there will be morons. Sometimes it's pressure from others, or something to get away from life. If they think that life is that unbearable in high school, wait till they see the "real world".

Weed is a drug that one can experiment with, but meth is not. Meth will fricken DESTROY your mind and body. It's ridiculously addictive, I hope no one around here is getting any ideas to go out and try this stuff.

From what I've seen, there are two main reasons: escapism and experimentation.

People are either just genuinely curious or they have something going on in their lives that they cannot deal with.

Short answer: theres alot more then one reson why people do drugs.

Yes some people do it to be cool, but there just posers and are the scum of the planet, but not everyone who does drugs is a poser.

i have experimented and so have hundreds of teenagers i know there are a few who just do it to enhance an already great time (going to raves or whatever) and there are others who take it to escape the monotony of their life but little do they realise that the more they take drugs the more monotonous their life will become it is an endless cycle.

I beleive all you saying we are cowards for trying drugs are too scared yourselves to admit that you may enjoy it and that you may not be able to control it so dont pass judgement until you know what the hell you are talking about! now f**k off and get back on your xbox and for those who agree with my views lets pick up and go out and have a great time!
