Why do people find baseball so boring?

I've heard people say that baseball isone of the most boring sports ever. My question is: why? Some of themost exciting sports moments I've seen have come from baseball. Such as when the Cardinals (my favorite team) won the world series for the first time in over 20 years, or when Barry Bonds broke the single season home run record. So could someone try to explain why they think baseball is boring?

Baseball is an extremely boring sport...

its not boring its that most people have neither the intellect nor the patience to watch it. I happen to love it and watch it on t.v. or i go to my local classA red sox affiliate sometimes wheni feel up to it i travel down to see the dodgers. tidywhite

I had no idea baseball was such an intellectual sport...

i thought it was until this season, now that i have a favorite team (rangers) i always watch them, sometimes other teams bore me, but not the rangers

It's slow and it's long. People like fast paced sports. Baseball has it's funny moments. Like when a runnerslid past the plate and wasn'tsafe because he didn'tpass over the plate instead he missed the plate by two yards. He slid into the infield instead of over the plate.

Or the really crappy batters that swing at anything the pitcher throws to him.

I don't care what people think, I love to play and watch baseball. It's one of the greatest sports there is, and takes more skill than any other sport.

Statistics are an important part of the sport, because, as you know, baseball is unwatchably boring. It might have been very exciting back in the 1920's, but now we have things like "talkie pictures" and "oral sex".Beth Littleford

AMEN. Every time I hear someone say baseball sucks/is boring...etc. I'm like "You have no idea! Have you ever played? (answer is no EVERY TIME) they have no idea how intense baseball can get in the 8th and 9th innings in a close game." I forced my friend to watch the 04 playoffs with me. And after watching the Yankees series, hes a Sox fan now, after never watching a full game before now he watches about 40-50 games a summer.

I'm bored when I play baseball. Just waiting and watching people hit the ball while others try to catch it. Then you always have a few retarded players on your team that should just pinch run because they swing at any ball that comes in their direction. The bat can't even make contact with the ball, he can't even hug the plate enougn nor lean far enough over the plate to hit the ball but he still swings instead of just letting the ball pass.

Football and basketball are more fun because they are fast paced. Plus in football you get to slam into other players and slam them into the grass, which is fun.

There's more strategy in football then there is football. Assuming your playing against good football players that know how to rush, block and box in the offense. It's a battle for the opposition's inzone.

one guy standing there with a ball, the other with a bat, many others on bases and such like, then he throws super fast and the other guy misses, he re-gains the ball, and repeats a long process of winding up ect, and then he throws, this is repeated a lot in professional baseball, just not my thing, I do watch the playoffs every year and that is what I see, its kinda fun to play in gym class though cause you get to smack the ball pretty far, but the pitchers are almost too good in the majors I find.
