Why do people like to hate on popular things?

I don't hate popular things. I just hate it when some people claim that some of these popular things are the best. I mean saying Naruto is the best anime is a false statement. I don't care if it's your opinion or not, it's just wrong to say Naruto is the best anime or even a good anime for that matter.

Same can go for other shows/movies.

But some people dislike some popular things... and it's annoying to be told that you don't like something just because it's popular, when you really don't like it.

I was never impressed with The Dark Night.

I was accused of not liking it because it was popular, and than much time after when the hype died down, accused of being on a new "I don't like The Dark Night bandwagon."

Yeah, it goes that way too.

Ther are really only two popular things that I dislike.

1. ipods, because they are really overpriced and overrated.

2. Rap music. I just don't enjoy listening to it.

Why do you think so many people just go straight for iPods when buying an mp3 player? They cost twice as much as any other brand but they are more popular.
