It depends on what you mean by cry. If you mean cry due to emotions then yes it would be seen as a sign of weakness. Now, if you mean cry due to sudden intense pain (i.e. hard kick to the groin) then I'd give a guy a pass on that one.

Buck_Hotep

I'd like some clarification here... how does being in touch with one's emotions make them "weak?" Vengeance is not a weakness... and it usually comes with a plethora of emotions, both sorrow and rage.

It isn't the "macho" thing to do. Apparently guys aren't supposed to cry, but girls like guys with a sensitive side. At least I do.

soulless4now

I don't really think it's good if only some men cry, and I don't think they should be called sensitive.

How come people will actually hold in their tears and not cry??
If I see a man who never cries about anything, I don't think hes a man, a real man will cry.

Holding in feelings will cause depression which can lead to suicide.
Also men who get told not to cry don't really get help for any of their problems.

So if you just hold everything in, that can lead to bad mental illnesses, and also anger problems, which can lead to violence and murder.
So yeah, it's not healthy to hold in feelings like that.

I guess men are "supposed" to be the tough protectors and crying would show weakness. Personally, I don't think any less of men if I see them cry.

Because man tears aren't like women's tears they include high concentrations of manliness, such conectntrated manliness burns therough all known substances. So you see men must not cry, as if they did cry the earth would melt :o

Men lose testosterone through tears.

This is the reason why I don't cry.

Boys can cry as freely as they want and there's no rule. They don't have to be "tough" or "macho" all the time because that just wrecks who they want to be. That's how society wants you to live and I'm thinking that's dumb. I've actually never seen a teenage boy cry in my life. :? But they're allowed to cry, it's not like it's some rule or something, just let it out to make you feel better. :)

Umm.. lemme see. I am a Neanderthal type, so it depends on how hard the guy in question was kicked in his Hoo-Hoo. Therefore, it is okay for him to cry, 'cause that IS a bad thing to happen, afterall

The rest of us guys can easily understand that, I think.

It is well known fact that for each tear a man sheds, he loses approximately 5 man points.

I'm not sure of the reason, maybe we should ask why humans are the only creatures that cry for emotional reasons. To be honest I don't really cry much because I'm not affected by too many things I guess, nothing about hiding emotions, things just don't bother me that much.

No one really wants to see 'weakness'. When you allow yourself to be seen with your misfortune, it puts both you and your peers in an uncomfortable position.

The more you try to resist the need to 'empty' yourself of your pain, the less vulnerable will you be in the future when similar events can occur. Maybe crying will just make you more susceptible to suffering in the end.

I don't think anyone *shouldn't* actually be allowed to cry - I only consider what I've said to be a possibility.

I imagine that as a child, for example, seeing your father cry could be one of the most heart-breaking moments someone could experience at that age.

maybe it could be a good thing. it could humanize him more...instead of thinking of him as a brick wall but as an actual himan being

Anyone who thinks men shouldn't cry have something wrong with them. Real men DO cry. If you don't, you're not a man, you're a robot.

Quite possibly. Although, we're both not quite at liberty to say. Not that I particularly care.

Machismo insecurity. Only real men are in touch with their emotions and can cry freely.
