Why do people think they're bad ass when they hit the other sex?

I'm not talking about when the violence is in self-defense, or reciprocal.I'm also not restricting this topic to domestic violence, I'm just talking about in general.

I'm talking about when The woman bares no threat whatsoever, and isn't trying to either. What I'm referring to is when he's just attacking her for basically no reason: "She's cheating on me", "She burnt my food", "She just an incompetent useless b**** i gotta beat some since into her" Lines like that are typical. I'm just curious as to why they're acting so tough/bad ass when they're beating someone who's not a threat, they're not trying to harm you, you're just being a bully, and bullies are usually cowards.

Albeit there are abusive men who aren't cowards, and actually are bad asses. Mike Tyson, and Stone Cold Steve Austin to name a couple.

Women Hitting Men

In order for a generally smaller weaker creature like most women, to hit a generally larger stronger creature like a man, something has to give. There has to be reason as to why they believe that they can do this, and then gloat, and say how bad ass, and tough they are, and tell they're friends about how they beat up a man. Something that can put the odds in their favor. Oh, that's right. They know that most men are taught from childhood to never physically harm a woman. So they're attacking someone who they are almost certain about a shadow of a doubt will not dare to strike them back. Some would even argue that it's in a mans instincts to protect women, though I don't know how true this is.

Isn't that the same thing? It's at least just as bad, or worse. With a man hitting a woman he's striking someone who usually has no chance of overpowering/beating him. I'd say about 40% of the time the nearby people will attack him, 50% of the time she'll get her male friends,and family members to "take care of him", and 10% just let him finish his assault, and either go back to him, or leave him.

And with a woman hitting a man she's hitting a someone who I'd have to say she'd have a 40% chance of getting to mercilessly wail on him, a 50% chance of being restrained after a few strikes. And a 10% chance of being attacked in return.

I don't get why society, and some people on this board look at it so differently. It's basically the same thing, both of attackers are still bullies. Just one of them is in a skirt.

we men are truly an abused bunch.

With men I think it's obvious, but women tend to be more of an enigma.

When I think about it I see that it's not about physicality so much as rage overpowering reason, and that kicks in the fight or flight. Most men will "fight" and most women "flight" against a more formidable opponent.

I think it comes down to an adrenaline/testosterone (women have the male juice, too) thing. If we could control our hormones or emotional distress, war would cease to exist.

PS Oh and you have to take ego into account, too. Sometimes mental or perceptual self-preservation trumps the physical kind.

They are probably just naturally violent. Take a nice look at nature and tell me it is not cruel.

Yes...you're absolutely right. It IS the exact same thing.

Men and women BOTH see someone that they know they can beat on without any serious repercussions, and then beat the hell out of that person in order to make themselves feel better.

What can I say? Being a bully/jackass is not exclusive to one particular sex.

Why does it happen? Derp, common sense says because some people are violent. Other people who are under all other circumstances non-violent get pushed to breaking point.

Don't buy into media sensationalism, virtually no man thinks of himself as badass for hitting a woman. The closest thing to an exception are cultures where men as a group are less tolerant of beligerant women (and pretty much do this overwhelmingly on the basis of the necessity to control stubborn women) and men who feel excessively powerless in their lives and even in the case of the latter, I truly beleive 19 out of 20 of them would be abusing their sons (if available) LONG before their wives or daughters. The sense of satisfaction of using physical coercion to discipline disobedient boys for men is practically nonexistant with women. Pretty much correct in regards to women. They wouldn't hit men if they thought we would honestly go ape**** on them.rolfboy

I think people consider hitting a woman so awful for the same reason you don't hit children or someone in a wheelchair. Men are usually built physically stronger than women, and it's not really a fair fight.

That said, it pisses me off too when I hear a woman bragging about hitting a guy. Physical abuse is the ultimate demonstration of lack of respect.

They may work like hell but they don't think that they did well, where as men will brag about there work and exploit it. I'm not saying that all women are like this but many are. You could say they abuse out of fear, too. Lots of guys get worried that a girl will build some self confidence and realize they can do better, so they beat the crap out of them.

Just to clarify, women do it so much more than men, it is just not documented as much. Women also do more passive aggressive stuff like yelling really loud. Pms is not an excuse, it just makes them feel uncomfortable, and then they react to that uncomfortable by being violent. A professor in my class who is a lawyer said women are 90 percent of the time are the perpetrator. But men just happen to be able to do more damage if they hit back, etc.
