Primarily socks if they're comfortable otherwise bare feet. I almost never wear outside clothes at home unless I'm planning on leaving really soon. Pyjamas and a T-shirt are infinitely more comfortable and less restrictive.
The only reason I'm wearing shoes right now is because I'm going to leave for the bus soon and I want to rush as quickly as I can considering it's freezing cold outside. I usually don't wear shoes because I can track mud,dirt,and any other things that gets stuck to my shoe in the house.
About the only time I do is if I'm at a family gathering or something along those lines. In general I find it more comfortable to be shoeless, even when it's below freezing outside.
Because if you're flat footed you have to wear shoes with insoles practically 24/7, even in summer. It's either that or messing up your lower back/knees.

I think it has to do with how you were raised. My wife has several members of her family who worked on farms and I always have to tell them to take their shoes off when they come in.
My family has always had a no shoes in the house policy. I sure do prefer it but it's also nice when some other folks don't care about wearing shoes in other households.
why do people bother to wear anything in their homes?
if someone knocks on the door you can always throw on a robe or something before answering if you don't want to embarrass them.
of course it is a good idea to at least wear an apron when cooking:P

I can't remember the last time I wore pants when I was in my own home let alone shoes. On a related note, I love being able to work from home in my job.
People actually do this often? My dad and i do it when we forget something in the house when we are about to leave and just dont wanna remove our shoes but other then that i have only seen it on tv.
I never understood that either...i walk around in socks or barefoot..especially after getting home from classes...i just want to take my shoes off and relax..:x
I live in a very much no shoes house. We often need to goto a stables to muck out horses or move them across fields. You can't go wearing those boots indoors after where you just been so we gained the healthy habbit of taking them off in the utility room.
