No, they have more sensitive vocal chords, so they're actually making noises (saying things) we (humans) can't hear, but other Pokemon can hear (hence Meowth being able to translate).
I think he's supposed to be a freak of nature. Cuz I remember him trying to talk to another Meowth and it just sat there going "Meowth?"Meowth can talk right? Why is he the only Pokemon that can talk properly?!
Kenny789
It was fully explained in a particular episode. I'm not that big a geek that I can remember episode names, and too lazy to look it up, but I'm a big enough geek that I remember he was trying to impress a female Meowth and so he learned to talk like humans.Meowth can talk right? Why is he the only Pokemon that can talk properly?!
Kenny789
It's not really explained if ALL Pokemon have the ability to learn to speak like humans, or if it's just Meowths, or just THIS Meowth.
'Cos Pikachu doesn't have to. He's not out to impress anyone.Ok so Meowth taught himself how to speak English. Why didn't Pikachu?! You'd think after all that time with Ash, he'd pick up a few lines :|

too bad meowth impressed no one, the other meowth thought he was a freak...
because he's the only pokemon who went to school.Meowth can talk right? Why is he the only Pokemon that can talk properly?!

[QUOTE="Kenny789"]because he's the only pokemon who went to school.I swear he was like half-human or his mom was.Meowth can talk right? Why is he the only Pokemon that can talk properly?!

In some episodes you see birds, and perhaps fish, so I think there are actual real life animals. What do the people in Pokemon even eat?!
Kenny789
Or maybe they actually do eat Pokemon and it's just never mentioned.

Ash is a cannibal. It all makes sense now. Dear god... we must save Pikachu! :o^I mean birds and fish that aren't actualy Pokemon. As in, actual animals.
But if that's the case, what would happen if you threw a Pokeball at an animal? Would it just piss it off?
And how do Pokeballs even work?

Ash is a cannibal. It all makes sense now. Dear god... we must save Pikachu! :oCannibal? Then he'd eat people, not Pokemon. Pikachu is safe.Dosen't matter. I just laugh at it, especially with James Rolfe and Doug Walker's jokes about it.Doesn't that make the purpose of them even talking....pointless :|

How can you be afraid of Mudkip, or Magikarp? And what about cute little Charmander? Char char!Because that's all they need to say. Once you hear a Pokemon shout it's name, you know you're screwed. You best start running.
It's for the intimidation factor.

You mean a cute little Charmander that could incinerate your face if you get to close to it? Or a Mudkip, the king of all Pokemon memes? Those same Pokemon? Yes, I'm intimidated by them.
Don't even get me started on Magikarp. His Splash attack may not hurt you physically, but won't you don't realize is the brain damage it's causing you. Countless brain cells are lost everytime a Magikarp uses Splash. I'm lucky to be alive. I run everytime I encounter a Magikarp. I hope you do the same from now on.
I'd link to the Magikarp vs Magikarp battle, or the Ditto vs Magikarp battle (or Ditto vs Ditto), but I am to lazy.Don't even get me started on Magikarp. I believe that with the series, the humans name each pokemon after what they say, and the other pokemon who doesn't say there name is given by the humans.
I don't think there's a full explanation on why they only speak by saying there name, which pokemon can here as if they fully talking about things, which humans only hear the name, but i don't really care for it.
And most pokemon has good enough intelligent to even communicate as well as they do in the show. So if they truly tried, they could speck Human language.
and on how pokeballs work, your got me on there.
and about the whole food thing, well i forgot who was that first professor was in the first series of pokemon, but during an episode after ash caught that crab pokemon(My remembering of every name is bad, sorry, if anyone who like to correct it please do :-)
When they were talking on some global telephones from over seas i believe, the professor did mention a joke about the crab, and Ash was worry he was going to eat him.
So i guess some pokemon are eaten as a whole of the world, but with there loyalty as dogs and great animals for friends and companies, i think this is quite limited in since of morel judgements of even doing such a thing.
