I'm pretty sure some legendary pokemon can communicate in perfect english to humans.. I think lugia can, and celebi? But thanks for making me think of all this and ruining my childhood :( btw, if you notice, brock also often makes stew and rice, and you see them eating vegetables/unidentifiable slop a lot.

really who cares about this,? they say their names because imagine pikachu saying "Hey ash!!! im hungry! FEED ME" instead of "pika pika"

The idea of the anima was to make the games sell better so probably pokemon said their names to help kids remember their names.

I've always wondered why in the cartoon show the characters never run into or step in Pokemon feces. I mean, where do Pokemon go to the bathroom then? Are there secret Pokemon toilets hidden from the naked eye and are Pokemon toilet-trained? That is one thing about the series that has always baffled me.

in the movies, there are more and more pokemon who are talking. it's just dumb.

mewoth can talk. and that is all it should be.

on-topic: i think it is so pokemon are more like monsters
