Why do "good" guys always make excuses as to why their single?

We've all heard it before. "I don't understand, I don't drink or smoke pot, I get great grades, and I'm a nice guy, but I can't get a girlfriend!"

Then it's the laundry list of excuses.

"All the good girls are taken.

Girls only like jerky guys.

Girls only look at me as a 'freind'.

I'll never meet another girl like (Insert 'Crush A' here), and she's the only one for me."

Am I the only one who's tired of guys like this always making excuses as to why their single? They put up this huge list of reasons as to why their great candidates for dating, and then complain and moan on and on about how it's some sort of outside factor stopping them from finding a girl.

Does this annoy anyone else?

Guess I should be feeling lucky I got a girl then.

The way I see it, if you're single and your making a list of your "credentials" to try and win girls, you're obviously a lazy so and so who just expects everything in life to be easily obtained, easily won and easily kept.

Phew, you were right on the nose the.... I mean what are you talking about I know no one like that!

People have this idea in their head that they can't make someone sad. so the girl, who doesn't really like the guy, doesn't want to hurt his feelings, so she keeps this game going on with him, instead of telling him the truth. And all the while this gulliable dip **** is falling for it, he's not seeing that she doesn't like him, but he feels like there is some attachment that isn't there.

I used to be like that, the gulliable idiot, but now I'm smarter. if the girl doesn't show much intrest in me (which is quite common for an ugly guy like me) I don't waste any time on them.

I wish we didn't live in a culture in which we don't want to hurt other's feelings. Just straight up tell me "sorry, I don't like you." don't try leading me on in your little game. I'm perceptive, and when i find out that you don't give two ****s about me, I'm out, I don't want to waste my time with you.

eh i do think some people complain too much. and others i think are just in sucky situations.

i'm a good girl, at least i consider myself to be one, and i don't get a lot of attention from guys for what I tend to think are superficial reasons. nevertheless, i don't have time to dwell on it and i try not to let my good guy friends dwell on it if they seem to be striking out. i mean, i could probably sit around all day complaining about boys, but what would be the point?

yup, I'm kinda like that.However, I think its gonna happen to me. Myspace FTW. Met a girl going to my college, incredibly cute, yet never had a boyfriend, incredibly bright and friendly, just awesome.I actually can't wait for school to start.

Why do people automatically assume this somehow magically works? You know, there are plenty of us "Good guys" that have tried this. And more often than not it has resulted in negative responses. I'm not the best looking, but i'm not exactly bad looking either. Average, really.

No one is saying it will magically work but you have to at least try. You might ask out ten women and get rejected by nine of them. The one who says yes can make it worthwhile though. But if you don't try at all you are guaranteed to have no one.

What does that have to do with anything? I'm not a nice guy because i have some sort of motive for being nice. I'm nice because i believe in being nice. You know, it's called "Being raised right".

It's not like you can just walk up to a girl and say "I'm interested in you" like you were shopping in a store or something. You have to make a connection with them and then once you make that connection have the courage to ask her out.

the laundry list is real thats the problem. girls mostly only like jerks, blacks, or emo dorks, those are facts. ive heard many times im too nice, too sweet, and too caring. they want someone whos a pot head and drinks. its pretty sad actually. newimagejkep

yup. at least in my area. all the girls ive ever talked to ever have admitted to being attracted to jerks/bad boys. more and more today you see white girls dating black guys. ever since emo became commercial 2 or 3 yrs ago girls have been attracted to that style. a good guy, or a normal guy has no chance anymore.

thank you! amen! its unreal. girls want guys with long hair and eye liner and make up. if they want that why dont they date a girl instead of a guy? i dont get it. a really pretty white girl here got killed this summer bc she dated some black guy who had been to jail several times and he shot her in the head and tried to hide her body in a dumpster.

because at such a young age, why get together with a girl just for the sake of getting together, and with the inevitability of breaking up and hurting each other

plus i DON"T NEED ONE right now, why force something that isn't right? the time will come when the right woman for me will come along, and i will make an effort to do it, but right now, i definitely wouldn't go for girls just because i think they are cute or hot or something

They make excuses because their friends always use their girlfriends as trophies, like saying "I'm better than you becuase I have this and you don't :P ". Whenever someone is attacked they try to lessen the blow by making excuses, and keep their pride intact. Show a little consideration please.

My friend is a jerk to everyone, but just this year his girlfriend dumped him. He said it was her fault becauseshe was immature and it was her first time dating. :D I felt sorry for him, butlaughed inside, because he used to always make outwith her around us, justto rub it in.

It'strue, it seems like mostteenage girls only like guys who are a-holes. They grow out of it . :P

Well one thing can be that they're actually looking for a relationship and not another one nighter.

I've never met a guy like the guy you've described. I've met socialy awkward guys that make a list of execuses as to why they don't have a girl friend and I find them annoying, but they are far from nice guys.
