Dark knight should be intense

Anyways most remakes of good movies fail because they can't live up to the epicness of the original, immediatly making them suck.

Its probably because the remake was horrible or just below the expectations.

While 300 wasn't a "re-make" for say, it had already been done. "The 300 Spartans" came out inthe 70s if I'm not mistaken.

The Dark Knight really isnt a remake cause it will be nothing like the first Batman movie with the Joker. Also have you seen Batman Begins? Do you know anything about the sequel? Cause if you did you wouldnt be worried.

Probably because the original was awesome, and no matter how much the director puts into it, fans of the original will always see it as less than the original. I'd have to disagree with Batman though. Batman Begins was an awesome movie.

actually your pretty wrong about Batman Begins, a lot of people loved it, and im one of them, and yes im sure Black Knight will be crazy.

I guess that if classics are actually called classics his because they're the best you can get, so trying to do better than the best his pretty difficult.

QFT. Big disappointment.

To the topic: I think there's a re-make, and then there is a re-imagining of the source material.

The new Batman series of movies aren't remakes - they're just taking the material in going in a new direction.

The Departed was a remake, and it turned out pretty good. I thought it was as equally good as Internal Affairs.

Same here, it's different to most superhero movies.

On topic, i would say that remakes for some reason dont really have the great storyline the originals did, different directors, and no good actors.

Planet of the Apes (2002) anyone?

Because they were good in the first place. Night of the Living Dead was pretty good though, I also heard Halloween was, the Dracula remake was alright....

Because remakes are pointless. Batman isn't a remake because it has its own storyline. Remakes are basically Hollywood's "free cash" choice.

The Thing.

The Fly.

Two sequels that are almost universally recognized as being superior to the originals.

Now that we have established that remakes CAN be better than the originals, the question is now what differentiates a crappy remake from an awesome remake.

I'm getting pretty sick and tired of remakes or movies based off another work. Where are the ORGINAL ideas? Can anyone name me a few great original movies? I can't think of any at the moment.

Good point.

Gus van Sant directed a remake to Psycho that was a shot-for-shot remake of the original.

No one liked it.

David Cronenberg directed a remake to The Fly. Rather than following the original, he turned it into a poignant and affecting love story that serves as a metaphor for death and debilitation. Rather than keeping the same formula, he took the original premise and turned it into a romantic drama about the love and loss that all of us must eventually face.

Everyone loved it.

I feel lost. The Dark Knight is a sequel and Batman Begins was a reboot. Not really a remake. I think Superman Returns was a sequel and Rocky Balboa was a sequel. In any case, 3:10 to Yuma is a remake and it was really good.

b/c they are not originals and are usually made on a low budget
