It isn't really. They only say that to feel superior to kids still in University.

And I'd say a lot of it depends on your job. Â I feel I have at least a decent perspective on this situation as I was just talking to someone in their late 30s/early 40s who has gone back to school full time and quit their job.
 They were discussing how difficult it was because in school they're learning something completely new everyday, taking it home practicing it into the night etc.  At many jobs you do the exact same thing everyday, with little variation and once you get home you leave work behind you.
Now ofc, high level executive jobs, or in cases where someone owns their own business where work is basically a never-ending thing and they're pretty much always on the clock or working even when not at work, that's a completely different story. Â Â
As for people who work standard 40 hr work weeks and nothing more, and still claim the real world is so much tougher, no not really.
