dont smoke weed man. just dont do it
MrGeezer
saying "dont smoke weed" is equally as bad as saying "smoke weed". Next it'll be "dont skydive" or "dont date that girl" or "go to college" or "get a job"
do what you want, man, just weigh the pros and cons before you make any decision.
Exactly.
Some people here are failing to understand that this isn't about the weed at all. The issue here is people treating the guy as inferior because he doesn't do weed. Which is EXACTLY the same as treating a person as inferior because that person DOES smoke weed. The issue here is people trying to force their own lifestyle on the guy.
No, weed is not a miracle drug that cures all ailments and lets your mind reach its full potential. Weed is also not the insidious gateway drug that leads to sexual depravity and use of hard drugs. It won't make you Superman and it won't ruin your life (at least the drug itself won't ruin your life, that's saying nothing of the consequences of being caught being involved with a drug that's illegal). Anyone who tries to argue for-or-against in simple terms of good-or-bad is NOT doing you any favors. Either they're intentionally trying to sway you in order to support their agenda, or they're just ignorant enough to realize that actual marijuana use is pretty damn neutral as far as morality goes.
The problem here is that the TC is being harrassed by people because he doesn't use the drug. That should be a personal decision. And piping up here with comments like "don't use weed, it's awful" or "hey hey, smoke weed every day" are manifestations of the EXACT same problem that the TC is facing.
Look, I'll be the first to admit that there are some dumb-ass potheads who let their lives revolve around pot. Now...is the problem actually the pot? Or is the problem that these guys are simply losers who don't aspire to anything, and they use pot as their crutch instead of videogames or hamburgers? Beats me. One could certainly make an argument that most go-nowhere potheads haven't had their lives ruined by pot, but instead have had their lives ruined by lack of motivation and goals. I've met people who shrugged off their responsibilities to smoke pot, and I've met people who shrugged off their responsibilities to play Goldeneye 64. Losers in both cases, but to what extent does the pot and the videogame have to do with CAUSING that person to be a loser?
And on the other hand, it is ABSOLUTELY possible for people to be "casual" pot smokers. I know quite a few highly successful people who STILL smoke pot. Hard workers, loving parents, people with incredibly stressful jobs, and who are actually RICH. Smoke pot, but don't let pot run their lives. When I was in high school, this was an IB school. The people with the highest GPAs and best academic records...most of them smoked pot. Seriously. I know this because I repeatedly saw a lot of those guys smoking pot. And they did a-okay in life, because pot means ****-all (again, this is neglecting the possibility of criminal charges, I'm talking about the drug itself).
Pot is basically like any socially acceptable hobby. Some people ruin their lives playing videogames. Some people waste their lives watching movies. You can ABSOLUTELY waste your life smoking pot, but I'd be hard pressed that it's the POT that ruined your life. If it wasn't pot, it probably would have been something else. Because if you're the kind of person who allows marijuana to lead you to laziness and meth use, then you're probably just looking for an Escape From Life. If pot didn't provide that escape, it probably would have been something else.
QFT 120%!
I know people that went through med school smoking pot and are now surgeons and make six figures a year (and they still smoke occasionaly...yes, that doctor fixing your heart or curing your cancer just might smoke pot!), and I know people that have smoked themselves into stupors and are sedentary do-nothings.
I also know people that have eaten themselves into poor health, and gourmet chefs that are examples of perfect health.
