Why do we argue on forums?

Seriously.... ive been trolling forums for years. Never once have i seen someone change their mind, regardless of how blaringly wrong their opinion may be to everyone in the thread but themselves. so whats the point? are we all just stroking are own egos? or do we all just like to argue for the sake of arguing? I think thats how i am, my wife says im badabout it.I do enjoy a good, heated debate.

We argue because we can :P. I just like arguing with people. Sometimes, I even take a point I don't support, just to play devil's advocate.

I dunno' about everyone else, but i do it 'cos it amuses me. =P

From all the forums ive visited throughout the internets, I have to say, gamers are the most argumentive Online and Off I have noticed this :? I see no point. OWNED, PWN, and FAIL I see is to only increase ones internet EGO. Its just overall ridiculous and most likely not healthy.

I get bored alot, so I pass the time on forums, if their is nothing to talk about I just create a reason to debate or argue even if i'm wrong.

Egotism mostly, and as a another user said, being in front of the computer without the consequence of other users "hurting" you makes you bold.

Sometimes I wish they made a special key on the keyboard that would cause a fist to pop out of the specific user's screen who is just bothersome or simply stupid and annyoing and punch them.

That would be great. But I imagine some people would probably be a little abusive...

My opinion is that we are all letting off steam and take a chance to talk about topics that in real life we dont have many of these chances. Or the people around us arent that interested to listen to us.

Huh? I do change my mind. Changing my mind is the only way things change.
Maybe others change their mind too. But don't show You on here.
Or maybe they are here to strenghten their current beliefs, and that's why they won't allow their mind to change.

People don't admit they're wrong during an argument, but I can tell you from personal experience that sometimes we might change our stance a smidgen next time the same topic comes around.jimmyjammer69

Srsly tho, I have actually changed my mind before, and feel as if I have maybe persuaded someone to at least accept my viewpoints on certain topics. It keeps your brain sharp, too. I go to school online, and well... there is a lot of debating, so it helps me practice my debating skills, and my Critical Thinking :p.

Boring answer: because sharing different opinions is interesting.

Most of the people I see arguing on this board usually are doing so to get their point across. They majority of the time they have valid arguments sometimes not. You want to see irrational arguing and ego stroking well system war is a great example lol.

I don't know, I guess it's for an Ego boost or maybe your opinion on something differs from another users. Who knows why some people argue.
